A Numerical Method for General Relativistic Magnetohydrodynamics [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2003
This paper describes the development and testing of a general relativistic magnetohydrodynamic (GRMHD) code to study ideal MHD in the fixed background of a Kerr black hole. The code is a direct extension of the hydrodynamic code of Hawley, Smarr, and Wilson, and uses Evans and Hawley constrained transport (CT) to evolve the magnetic fields.

The physics of non-ideal general relativistic magnetohydrodynamics [PDF]

open access: yesMonthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society, 2021
ABSTRACT We consider a framework for non-ideal magnetohydrodynamics in general relativity, paying particular attention to the physics involved. The discussion highlights the connection between the microphysics (associated with a given equation of state) and the global dynamics (from the point of view of numerical simulations), and ...

Numerical Hydrodynamics and Magnetohydrodynamics in General Relativity [PDF]

open access: yesLiving Reviews in Relativity, 2008
This article presents a comprehensive overview of numerical hydrodynamics and magneto-hydrodynamics (MHD) in general relativity. Some significant additions have been incorporated with respect to the previous two versions of this review (2000, 2003), most notably the coverage of general-relativistic MHD, a field in which remarkable activity and progress

Magnetohydrodynamic generators using two-phase liquid-metal flows [PDF]

open access: yes, 1969
Two-phase flow generator cycle of a magnetohydrodynamic /MHD/ generator uses a working fluid which is compressible and treated as an expanding gas. The two-phase mixture passes from the heat source through the MHD generator, where the expansion process ...

Superconducting magnet system for an experimental disk MHD facility [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
A predesign of a split-pair magnet for a magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) facility for testing a 10-MW open-cycle disk or a 5-MW closed-cycle disk generator is presented.

Magnetic Field‐Driven Catalysis: Revealing Enhanced Oxygen Reactions in Li‐O2 Batteries Using Tailored Magnetic Nanocatalysts

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A series of Mn‐Co‐Fe oxides with different saturated magnetization (Ms) are prepared to evaluate the enhancement catalytic properties of magnetic catalysts on Li‐O2 batteries (LOBs). A deep understanding of the intricate relationship between the magnetism of electrocatalysts and the corresponding performance of LOBs under the influence of magnetic ...

A Compact, High‐Performance, and Deformation‐Resilient Trielectrode Electrostatic Soft Pump for Soft Robotics

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 7, Issue 3, March 2025.
Existing soft pumps often require tradeoffs between performance and compatibility with soft robotic systems. The proposed trielectrode electrostatic soft pump addresses these limitations through an innovative driving mechanism. Its design, which includes a trielectrode configuration and the use of compliant materials, improves operational efficiency ...
