Global MHD Simulations: Magnetosphere–Ionosphere Coupling Dependence on Conductance Model

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Space Physics, Volume 131, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract Eighty‐five geomagnetic storms were simulated with the space weather modeling framework Geospace model using two different ionospheric conductance models. One set used the legacy conductances within the Ridley ionosphere model, while the other set used the newly developed conductance model for extreme events conductance model.

Impact of Induced Electric Fields Inside the Magnetopause on Magnetopause Shadowing of Radiation Belt Electrons

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Space Physics, Volume 131, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract Loss of relativistic electrons with energies above 0.5 MeV through the magnetopause, commonly referred to as magnetopause shadowing, has been extensively investigated using both simulations and observations. However, direct and systematic observational evidence remains limited. In this study, we extend a previously developed magnetopause model

Driving Dynamical Inner‐Heliosphere Models With In Situ Solar Wind Observations

open access: yesSpace Weather, Volume 24, Issue 1, January 2026.
Abstract Accurately reconstructing the solar wind throughout the inner heliosphere is essential for understanding solar–terrestrial interactions and improving space‐weather forecasts. Conventional reconstruction methods rely on photospheric magnetic field observations and coronal models to estimate solar wind conditions near the Sun, typically at 0.1 ...

Three-dimensional Magnetohydrodynamic Simulations of Periodic Variations of Ganymede’s Footprint

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Alfvénic power is generated through the interaction between the mini-magnetosphere of Ganymede and the corotating flow of the Jovian plasma, contributing to the formation of the Ganymede auroral footprint at Jupiter’s ionosphere.

Thermal Transport Analysis of Hybrid (Al2O3 − Cu/H2O) Nanofluids With Inertial Drag and Cross‐Diffusion Under Convective Conditions Using the Mintsa–Gherasim Model: An Approach to Energy Research

open access: yesInternational Journal of Energy Research, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Purpose Energy transport is a crucial phenomenon across many engineering applications, and its importance continues to grow with increasing demand for physical and industrial problem‐solving. In order to examine the function of a hybrid nanofluid, two dissimilar types of metal and oxide nanoparticles (NPs) were added to the solvent water using the ...

Unveiling the Connection between the Alfvénic Oval and the Open–Closed Field Line Boundary at Ganymede

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Alfvén waves generated by the interactions between the Ganymede magnetosphere and the fast-corotating Jovian plasma carry a significant amount of energy.
