Magnetohydrodynamics Simulations

Magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) couples the Navier--Stokes and Maxwell equations into a nonlinear system of partial differential equations governing stellar interiors, astrophysical jets, fusion plasmas, and space weather. Numerical advances, including finite-volume Godunov schemes, constrained-transport algorithms, high-order spectral-element and ...

Data parallel simulations of the magnetohydrodynamics of plasma loops

1998
We developed a data parallel code written in High Performance Fortran for simulating magnetized fluid flow in thermonuclear fusion devices and solar coronal loops. We compare execution times on a variety of architectures for physically realistic applications.

Magnetohydrodynamic simulation of capillary plasmas

1998
The dynamics of capillary plasmas in regimes where soft x-ray amplification has been observed is investigated by means of a magnetohydrodynamic one-dimensional code that takes into account dissipative processes, ablation, and ionization of the wall material.

MagHy: A system for tracking and steering in magnetohydrodynamics simulation

1996
We summarize the main features and principles of MagHy, a system implemented to control, redirect and track down simulations in a distributed environment for magnetohydrodynamics. The system has been designed and implemented following a client-server model with an object orieted methodology and is compliant to CORBA specification.
