Modeling of asymmetric giant magnetoimpedance in amorphous ribbons with a surface crystalline layer

open access: yes, 2005
A model describing the asymmetric giant magnetoimpedance (GMI) in field-annealed amorphous ribbons is proposed. It is assumed that the ribbon consists of an inner amorphous core and surface hard magnetic crystalline layers.

Magneto-Impedance Biosensor Sensitivity: Effect and Enhancement

open access: yesSensors, 2020
Biosensors based on magneto-impedance (MI) effect are powerful tools for biomedical applications as they are highly sensitive, stable, exhibit fast response, small in size, and have low hysteresis and power consumption.

Permalloy-Based Thin Film Structures: Magnetic Properties and the Giant Magnetoimpedance Effect in the Temperature Range Important for Biomedical Applications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Permalloy-based thin film structures are excellent materials for sensor applications. Temperature dependencies of the magnetic properties and giant magneto-impedance (GMI) were studied for Fe19Ni81-based multilayered structures obtained by the ion-plasma

Scattering of Microwaves by a Passive Array Antenna Based on Amorphous Ferromagnetic Microwires for Wireless Sensors with Biomedical Applications

open access: yesSensors, 2019
Co-based amorphous microwires presenting the giant magnetoimpedance effect are proposed as sensing elements for high sensitivity biosensors. In this work we report an experimental method for contactless detection of stress, temperature, and liquid ...

Phenomenological theory of the giant magnetoimpedance of composite wires

open access: yes, 2012
Composite wires with a three-layered structure are known to show a particularly large magnetoimpedance effect. The wires consist of a highly conductive core, an insulating layer and an outer ferromagnetic shell.

Asymmetrical giant magnetoimpedance in exchange-biased NiFe

open access: yesApplied Physics Letters, 2010
Linear asymmetrical magnetoimpedance (MI) has been obtained in thin multilayer strips of exchange-coupled FeNi(5 nm)/IrMn(15 nm)/FeNi(40 nm)/Cu(100 nm)/FeNi(40 nm)/IrMn(15 nm)/FeNi(5 nm), in which the MI response is enhanced by including a Cu layer between the two 40 nm NiFe layers.

Metal-to-glass ratio and the Magneto-Impedance of glass-covered CoFeBSi microwires at high frequencies

open access: yes, 2004
High frequency [1-500 MHz] measurements of the Magneto-Impedance (MI) of glass-covered Co$_{69.4}$Fe$_{3.7}$B$_{15.9}$Si$_{11}$ microwires are carried out with various metal-to-wire diameter ratios.

Giant magnetoimpedance effect at GHz frequencies in amorphous microwires

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2019
Studies of magnetic properties and GMI effect of amorphous Co-Fe rich microwires reveal that they present GMI effect at GHz frequencies. Magnetic field dependences of GMI effect are affected by the post-processing conditions.
