Picosecond magneto-optic thermometry measurements of nanoscale thermal transport in AlN thin films

open access: yesAPL Materials, 2023
The thermal conductivity Λ of wide bandgap semiconductor thin films, such as AlN, affects the performance of high-frequency devices, power devices, and optoelectronics. However, accurate measurements of Λ in thin films with sub-micrometer thicknesses and

Local Normal Mode Coupling and Energy Band Splitting in Elliptically Birefringent 1D Magnetophotonic Crystals

open access: yes, 2007
An analysis is presented of wave-vector dispersion in elliptically birefringent stratified magneto-optic media having one-dimensional periodicity. It is found that local normal-mode polarization-state differences between adjacent layers lead to mode ...

Low‐Noise, Unbiased Ferromagnetic‐Resonance‐Driven Thin‐Film Integrated Giant Magnetoimpedance Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, Volume 10, Issue 14, July 22, 2025.
Utilizing a novel (Ni81Fe19/Ti)4/Cu/(Ni81Fe19/Ti)4 thin‐film multilayer with low coercive field, low damping and a superior GMI ratio, a compact, low‐noise unbiased FMR‐driven integrated GMI sensor with a superior magnetic noise performance of ≈100 pT/√Hz is first demonstrated, owing to reduced phase noise from well‐defined aligned magnetic domains and

Modeling of Enhanced Polar Magneto-Optic Kerr Effect by Surface Plasmons in Au Bowtie Arrays

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2023
The weak magneto-optical (MO) signal of traditional MO materials is indeed an important issue for their further practical applications. Although many strategies have been proposed to improve the MO effect, hybridization with noble metal nanostructures is

Interaction between a magnetic domain wall and a superconductor

open access: yes, 2002
The interaction between a magnetic thin film and a superconductor is studied. In particular, the equilibrium width of a Bloch wall is estimated with and without the superconductor.

Orbital Current Boosting Magnetization Switching Efficiency in Metallic Superlattices

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, Volume 11, Issue 2, February 2025.
Orbitronics advances spintronics by leveraging orbital current for efficient magnetization switching. The [W/Ti]3 superlattices demonstrates superior damping‐like torque efficiency. This is due to the orbital Rashba–Edelstein effect at the W/Ti interface, reducing critical current density for magnetization switching.
