Improving the magnetorheological effect in isotropic magnetorheological rubber materials
Magnetorheological (MR) rubber materials are the solid analogue of magnetorheological fluids; i.e. their rheological properties can be controlled by an applied magnetic field. However, the use of a crosslinked matrix allows larger particles to be used than in fluid matrices, and when large irregular particles are used alignment of the particles is not ...

Effect of polydispersity in concentrated magnetorheological fluids [PDF]
Abstract Magnetorheological fluids (MRF) are smart materials of increasing interest due to their great versatility in mechanical and mechatronic systems. As main rheological features, MRFs must present low viscosity in the absence of magnetic field (0.1–1.0 Pa.s) and high yield stress (50–100 kPa) when magnetized, in order to optimize ...

Modelling and design of a dual channel magnetorheological damper [PDF]
© Cranfield UniversityA limitation with the current analytical models for predicting the performance of a magnetorheological (MR) damper is that they fail to capture the hysteretic variation of force versus velocity variation correctly.

A Smart Fluid-Hydraulic System Based on MRF Valve Control and Its Application in Flexible Grasping. [PDF]
This study introduces a smart fluid hydraulic system using MRF valve control for flexible gripping. An MRF‐MSV with an integrated excitation coil and micro‐textured damping channels is designed and validated; micro‐texturing increases hydraulic resistance. Coupled with a soft actuator, the MRF‐MSV enables dynamic bending and grasping.

Observer based control of an magnetorheological damper [PDF]
Magnetorheological (MR) fluids enable the rapid and continuous alteration of flow resistance via the application of a magnetic field. This unique characteristic can be utilised to build semi-active dampers for a wide variety of vibration control ...

Preparation of magnetorheological elastomers and their applications in precision machining: A review
Magnetorheological elastomer (MRE) is a magnetically controlled intelligent material, whose mechanical properties (such as stiffness, elastic modulus, intrinsic frequency, damping capacity, etc.) can be continuously and reversibly controlled by adjusting

Macroscopic two-fluid effects in magnetorheological fluids [PDF]
We investigate macroscopic two-fluid effects in magnetorheological fluids generalizing a one-fluid model studied before. In the bulk of the paper we use a model in which the carrier fluid, with density ρ_{1}, moves with velocity v_{1}, while the magnetic component (density ρ_{2}) and, therefore, the magnetization and the magnetic-field-induced relaxing

Effect of Magnetorheological additives on the buildability of 3D concrete printing [PDF]
This study investigates the effect of magneto-rheological additives in 3D concrete printing as a stimuli-responsive technique for buildability enhancement. The carbonyl iron powder (CIP) was used as the magnetorheological additive.
