Forward volume and surface magnetostatic modes in an yttrium iron garnet film for out-of-plane magnetic fields: Theory and experiment

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2018
We present experimental and theoretical results on the propagation of magnetostatic spin waves in a film of yttrium iron garnet (YIG) for out-of-plane magnetic fields for which propagation in opposite directions is nonreciprocal in the presence of a ...

Questioning Your Brilliance in Physics: Differential Shifts in Fixed Mindsets by Grade and Gender

open access: yesJournal of Research in Science Teaching, Volume 63, Issue 6, Page 514-530, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Students' domain‐specific mindsets and their beliefs about their capacity to improve through effort play a crucial role in shaping their experiences and decisions to persist in STEM disciplines. Physics is generally seen as a field requiring innate brilliance, which can reinforce fixed mindsets, particularly after initial setbacks in ...

TE Magnetostatic Surface Waves in Symmetric Dielectric Negative Permittivity Material Waveguide

open access: yesAdvances in Condensed Matter Physics, 2009
Nonlinear magnetostatic surface wave in a slab waveguide structure has been investigated. The design consisted of dielectric film between two thick nonlinear nonmagnetic negative permittivity material (NPM) layers.

Magnetostatic wave mixer

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 1990
A new element, allowing the mixing of signals in the microwave frequency range is described. Excitation of magnetostatic waves (MSW) in the non-stationary medium has been used to modulate the carrier harmonic signal. The proper choice of the working point allows the higher harmonic products of the output frequency spectrum to be suppressed.

Electromagnetic Response of Two Interacting Topological Insulator Spheres in External Fields

open access: yesAnnalen der Physik, Volume 538, Issue 7, July 2026.
ABSTRACT We study the static electromagnetic response of two spherical topological insulators embedded in a dielectric medium and subjected to a uniform external electric field. The gapped surface states are described by a piecewise constant axion field, which induces a topological magnetoelectric coupling localized at the spherical interfaces.

The influence of inhomogeneous exchange on the propagation of surface damon–eschbach waves in the ferrospinels films

open access: yesVestnik Samarskogo Gosudarstvennogo Tehničeskogo Universiteta. Seriâ: Fiziko-Matematičeskie Nauki, 2012
The law of magnetostatic waves dispersion in the manganese and magnesiummanganese ferrospinels films was investigated using the moving-transducer method. The wave numbers, phase and group velocities of magnetostatic waves are defined.

Spin Waves in a Ferromagnetic Film with a Periodic System of Antidots [PDF]

open access: yesЖурнал нано- та електронної фізики, 2015
In the paper, spin waves in a thin film (composed of a uniaxial ferromagnet) with a two-dimensional periodical system of antidots are studied. The film ferromagnet is considered to have the “easy axis” type.

Spin wave absorber generated by artificial surface anisotropy for spin wave device network

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2016
Spin waves (SWs) have the potential to reduce the electric energy loss in signal processing networks. The SWs called magnetostatic forward volume waves (MSFVWs) are advantageous for networking due to their isotropic dispersion in the plane of a device ...

Reservoir Computing With Spin Waves Excited in a Garnet Film

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
We propose a reservoir computing device utilizing spin waves that propagate in a garnet film equipped with multiple input/output electrodes. In recent years, reservoir computing has been expected to realize energy-efficient and/or high-speed machine ...
