The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

The seismicity of the Carpathians in 2022

open access: yesГеофизический журнал
According to the results of observations at the seismic stations of the Carpathian region of Ukraine in 2022, the main parameters of 50 earthquakes in the range of energy classes KR=5.7÷13.7 were obtained.

The Conditional Colour-Magnitude Distribution: I. A Comprehensive Model of the Colour-Magnitude-Halo Mass Distribution of Present-Day Galaxies

open access: yes, 2018
We formulate a model of the conditional colour-magnitude distribution (CCMD) to describe the distribution of galaxy luminosity and colour as a function of halo mass. It consists of two populations of different colour distributions, dubbed pseudo-blue and

Magnitude and crystalline anisotropy of hole magnetization in (Ga,Mn)As [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Theory of hole magnetization Mc in zinc-blende diluted ferromagnetic semiconductors is developed relaxing the spherical approximation of earlier approaches. The theory is employed to determine Mc for (Ga,Mn)As over a wide range of hole concentrations and

β‐TrCP overexpression enhances cisplatin sensitivity by depleting BRCA1

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Low levels of β‐TrCP (Panel A) allow the accumulation of BRCA1 and CtIP, which facilitate the repair of cisplatin‐induced DNA damage via homologous recombination (HR) and promote tumor cell survival. In contrast, high β‐TrCP expression (Panel B) leads to BRCA1 and CtIP degradation, impairing HR repair, resulting in persistent DNA damage and apoptosis ...

On the asymptotic magnitude of subsets of Euclidean space

open access: yes, 2012
Magnitude is a canonical invariant of finite metric spaces which has its origins in category theory; it is analogous to cardinality of finite sets. Here, by approximating certain compact subsets of Euclidean space with finite subsets, the magnitudes of ...

The colour magnitude relation for galaxies in the Coma cluster [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
We present a new photometric catalogue of the Coma galaxy cluster in the Johnson U- and V- bands. We cover an area of 3360arcmin2 of sky, to a depth of V=20 mag in a 13 arcsec diameter aperture, and produce magnitudes for ~1400 extended objects in metric

Investigating the cell of origin and novel molecular targets in Merkel cell carcinoma: a historic misnomer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study indicates that Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) does not originate from Merkel cells, and identifies gene, protein & cellular expression of immune‐linked and neuroendocrine markers in primary and metastatic Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) tumor samples, linked to Merkel cell polyomavirus (MCPyV) status, with enrichment of B‐cell and other immune cell

Absolute Magnitude Calibration for Red Giants based on the Colour-Magnitude Diagrams of Galactic Clusters. III-Calibration with 2MASS

open access: yes, 2012
We present two absolute magnitude calibrations, $M_{J}$ and $M_{K_s}$, for red giants with the colour magnitude diagrams of five Galactic clusters with different metallicities i.e. M92, M13, M71, M67, and NGC 6791.

The Orbital and Absolute Magnitude Distributions of Main Belt Asteroids [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
We have developed a model-independent analytical method for debiasing the four-dimensional (a,e,i,H) distribution obtained in any asteroid observation program and have applied the technique to results obtained with the 0.9m Spacewatch Telescope.
