The Effect of Industry Homogeneity on the Magnitude of Post-Earnings Announcement Drift: Evidence from Korea

open access: yesAsian Academy of Management Journal of Accounting and Finance, 2019
We examine the relationship between industry homogeneity and the magnitude of post-earnings announcement drift (hereafter, PEAD). Given that firms with more homogeneous operating cost structure are conducive to spillover of knowledge among investors, we expect that firms in highly homogenous industries have relatively low magnitude of PEAD. Using firms

Entropy‐Driven Design of Low‐Melting‐Point Alloys via Compositionally Complex Strategy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Conventional low‐melting‐point alloys (LMPAs) are limited by a narrow compositional space and inherent property trade‐offs. This review presents an entropy‐driven design strategy that overcomes these limitations, ushering in a new class of low‐melting‐point compositionally complex alloys (LMCCAs).

Controlling Grain Growth in Powder Bed Fusion of Yttria‐Stabilized Zirconia Using Femtosecond Lasers: Challenges and Methodological Insights

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Binder‐free laser powder bed fusion of 8YSZ with a femtosecond laser is used to map process windows linking scan strategy, heat accumulation, and grain growth. Time‐resolved thermography and simulations reveal thermal regimes that enable continuous, vitrified, and fine‐grained 8YSZ surface layers without absorptive additives and demonstrate ...

Simulation‐Based Analysis of Insert Pull‐Out in Nickel‐Polyurethane Hybrid Foams Using CT‐Derived Geometries

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
CT‐based finite element simulations combined with in situ X‐ray computed tomography are used to analyze insert pull‐out in nickel‐coated polymer foams. Despite variations in material parameters, deformation consistently concentrates within a narrow annular region around the insert.

Multi-scale, numerical modeling of spatio-temporal signaling in cone phototransduction.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2019
Mammals have two types of photoreceptors, rods and cones. While rods are exceptionally sensitive and mediate vision at very low illumination levels, cones operate in daylight and are responsible for the bulk of visual perception in most diurnal animals ...

Effect of Cu and CuP Additions on the Microstructure and Nanoindentation‐Based Fracture Behavior of CoNiAlSi Ferromagnetic Shape Memory Alloys

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Cu and combined Cu–P microalloying refine the microstructure and enhance the nanoindentation‐derived fracture resistance of CoNiAlSi ferromagnetic shape memory alloys without suppressing the martensitic transformation. Comparative SEM, DSC, and nanoindentation results reveal that the CuP‐containing alloy provides the most balanced response, achieving ...

The Optimal Temperature of Ecosystem Respiration Homogenizes Under Global Warming

open access: yesEarth's Future
Terrestrial ecosystem respiration (ER) is a key component of the carbon cycle and is highly temperature sensitive. While ER is often modeled as an exponential function of temperature, recent evidence shows that ER exhibits an optimal temperature (Topt ...

Fusogenic RNA Nanomodules for Fusion‐Mediated and Multiplexed siRNA Delivery

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A fusogenic lipid‐layered RNA nanomodules (L‐CRAMs) enable high‐capacity and long‐lasting siRNA delivery through membrane fusion. These nanomodules carry exceptionally large siRNA payloads, avoid conventional endosomal uptake, and release multiple functional siRNAs through Dicer‐mediated processing.

Effect of Nanoemulsion Formulation on Permeation of Essential Oils Through Biological Membranes

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2019
The encapsulation of essential oils in nanoemulsions represents an effective approach not only to disperse them in the aqueous systems where microorganisms proliferate but also to enhance their permeability through biological membranes.

2D Co‐Assembly of Solid Acids Enables Stable Superprotonic Conduction Above 260°C

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A two‐dimensional co‐assembly strategy integrates antimony phosphate and phosphotungstic acid nanosheets into free‐standing inorganic lamellar membranes with confined acid–acid interfaces. The resulting interfacial hydrogen‐bond network enables anhydrous proton conductivity exceeding 0.1 S cm−1 at 260°C and supports stable high‐temperature fuel‐cell ...
