Short-circuit ratings for mains cables
Proceedings of the IEE Part A: Power Engineering, 1961Research work carried out by the E.R.A. has enabled distribution engineers to assess with greater accuracy the strength of paper- (or cambric-) insulated cables to resist the forces arising from severe short-circuits. E.R.A. Report Ref. F/T195 describes the research work which has been carried out over a number of years; the present paper interprets ...

Fire protection of suspension bridge main cables
IABSE Reports, 2018<p>Large suspension bridges are increasingly exposed to fire risks as the traffic carried by them increases. A truck fire on a suspension bridge may be a relatively likely accident that may lead to main cable failure or a strength reduction that will either cause down classification of the load carrying capacity or need for long lasting repairs ...

Telephone and Cable Television: The Main Drivers
1996Telephone and cable television (Community Antenna Television Service: CATV) are merging along with respective technologies in voice, data and video (see Figure 2.1). Through the integration of separate networks and products, a single integrated multimedia network (the Information Superhighway) is being developed.

The dehumidification of the main cables of the Delaware Memorial Bridge
2017The Delaware Memorial Bridge comprises two parallel suspension bridges crossing the Delaware River. Each bridge has a main span of 2150 ft. and side spans of 750 ft. The First Bridge was opened in 1951 and the Second Bridge in 1968. The bridges are owned and operated by the Delaware River & Bay Authority (DRBA).

Management strategies for suspension bridge main cables
2017There are two recognized methods for the evaluation of the remaining strength of cables based on internal inspection findings and testing results, NCHRP Report 534 Guidelines (Report 534) and the BTC method. Report 534 provides visual-based assessments of the corrsion on wire surface.

Modeling and nonlinear dynamic analysis of cable-supported bridge with inclined main cables
Engineering Structures, 2018Abstract This work studies the dynamic properties and non-linear responses of a sectional model of long-span cable-supported bridge deck under scenarios of resonance with vortex induced vibration or wind fluttering. The cable supported bridge with spatially inclined cables is modeled by a 6-degrees-of-freedom system.

New Concept for Main Cable of Suspension Bridge
IABSE Congress Reports, 2012<p>Aerial Spinning (AS) method and Prefabricated Parallel Wire Strand (PWS) method have been used for a parallel wire cable of a suspension bridge. These two methods to be adopted have been selected by the conditions and situations of the project.
