Hollow-forged AHD steel rotor shafts for wind turbines – a case study on power density, costs and GWP [PDF]

open access: yesWind Energy Science
Hollow-forging and air-hardening ductile (AHD) forging steels are a novel manufacturing process and steel grade for the wind energy sector. Together they enable new rotor shaft design possibilities for wind turbines.

Atrophic Skeletal Muscle‐Derived Extracellular Vesicles Transfer miR‐125a‐5p to Inhibit Bone Formation in Osteoporosis during Aging

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A muscle‐bone endocrine pathway in aging is revealed in which extracellular vesicles released from atrophic skeletal muscle (Aged‐SKM‐EVs) inhibit bone formation. These EVs deliver miR‐125a‐5p to osteoblasts, thereby suppressing the SIRT7‐Sp7 signaling axis and osteogenic differentiation.

BEARINGLESS ROTOR SYSTEM MAIN COMPONENTS DESIGNING

open access: yesProblems of Friction and Wear
Bearingless rotor system design optimizes mechanical simplicity, eliminates frictional losses typical of conventional bearing systems, and improves the overall efficiency of the rotor system. Based on the findings of the research, it is possible to determine that composite materials can be applied in order to improve the performance of the rotorcraft ...

Activated Platelet–Released Heat Shock Protein 90α Triggers Autophagy‐Dependent Neutrophil Extracellular Trap Formation and Amplifies Sepsis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
HSP90α is significantly upregulated in platelets from sepsis patients, with its origin from megakaryocyte‐derived trafficking. Furthermore, activated platelets secrete HSP90α into the extracellular space in both free and exosome‐associated forms. Finally, extracellular HSP90α directly engages TLR4 on neutrophils to induce autophagy, leading to NET ...

AI‐Enhanced Vibrational Capsule for Minimally Invasive Detection of Abnormal Bowel Tissue

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A fully integrated vibration‐assisted capsule is presented for the minimally invasive detection of bowel lesions. The capsule incorporates a wireless sensor and an eccentric motor to probe tissue mechanics in situ. By coupling triaxial vibration signals with AI‐based classification and analytical modeling, the system enables early, non‐visual ...
