EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Redox-dependent activation of protein kinase G1α contributes to transient receptor potential cation channel subfamily V member 1-mediated acute nociceptive pain behavior

open access: yesRedox Report
Background Sensory neurons relay the pain signals to the brain via the nociceptive system. Notably, reactive oxygen species (ROS) serve as signaling molecules in the somatosensory system; however, their contribution to sensing noxious stimuli remains ...

Effects of the implementation of T90 extension and 52 mm square mesh codend on the bottom trawl hake fishery of the north western Mediterranean

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science, 2023
The Spanish bottom trawl fleet operating in the Mediterranean currently uses 40 mm square mesh codends. Its selectivity is still too low to overcome the overall problem of high proportions of immature specimens in the catches.

Differential expression of cancer‐related genes supports prediction of poor response to first‐line treatments in T‐ALL pediatric patients with high minimal residual disease

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the present work, we have identified a transcriptional signature based on the differential expression of six genes (BCL2&MAST4, HSH2D&LAT2, METRN&PITPNM2) that would facilitate the early detection of T‐cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T‐ALL) patients prone to a poor treatment response and could be implemented at diagnosis, along with other risk ...

Seizures beget more than seizures: Understanding the cellular, structural, individual and societal impact of seizures in epilepsy

open access: yesEpilepsia Open
Epilepsy is primarily defined by the repetitive occurrence of seizures, but the full impact of seizures extends beyond these episodic events. Seizures themselves cause changes at the cellular, network, and systemic levels in individual patients with ...
