A model based on cost minimization and reliability enhancement to solve the power plant preventive maintenance scheduling problem [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
1. Introduction and problem description The Power Plant Preventive Maintenance Scheduling Problem (PPPMSP) requires determining the period for which generating units of an electric power system should be taken offline for planned preventive ...

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Life-cycle of fatigue sensitive structures under uncertainty [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Fatigue is the one of the main contributors to problems related to structural safety of civil and marine structures. Life-cycle management (LCM) techniques considering various uncertainties can be used to predict the safe service life of fatigue ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Scheduling unit processing time arc shutdown jobs to maximize network flow over time: complexity results

open access: yes, 2013
We study the problem of scheduling maintenance on arcs of a capacitated network so as to maximize the total flow from a source node to a sink node over a set of time periods.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Reliability-centered maintenance: analyzing failure in harvest sugarcane machine using some generalizations of the Weibull distribution

open access: yes, 2017
In this study we considered five generalizations of the standard Weibull distribution to describe the lifetime of two important components of harvest sugarcane machines.

Imperfect corrective maintenance scheduling for energy efficient manufacturing systems through online task allocation method

open access: yesJournal of manufacturing systems, 2019
Maintenance management is critical in enabling a smooth production operation in a manufacturing system. Once one machine fails, a corrective maintenance (CM) is required to resume its normal operation.
