Bioenergetics of the Alaskan Crab Chionoecetes bairdi (Decapoda: Majidae)
Journal of Crustacean Biology, 1989ABSTRACT Bioenergetic measurements of egg production, somatic energy storage, excretion, assimilation, and respiration of the crab Chionoecetes bairdi were made. Crabs growing from 10-mm carapace width to maturity were used, so that an energy budget could be calculated.

Breeding and Fertile Period for Female Chionoecetes Bairdi (Decapoda, Majidae)
Journal of Crustacean Biology, 1984ABSTRACT Pubescent Chionoecetes bairdi females were held in isolation and placed with males at selected times during a 70-day period following their molt to maturity. Some primiparous crabs that mated within 27 days of their molt produced viable clutches, while others produced externally attached nonfertilized eggs during the isolation period.

Maja goltziana d'oliveira, 1888 (Decapoda, Brachyura, Majidae) in the southern Tyrrhenian Sea
Crustaceana, 2005Maja goltziana d'Oliveira, 1888 is an oxyrhynch crab occurring in the eastern Atlantic Ocean from Portugal to Congo and the Canary Islands, and in the Mediterranean Sea (d'Udekem d'Acoz, 1999). It is apparently uncommon all across its distributional range, although González Pérez (1995) describes it as a frequent species on the Canary Islands.

2017Carapace subquadrate, subcircular to pyriform. Rostrum usually with two spines. Orbits complete with supraorbital eave and postorbital spine, but not closed; eyestalks long, movable in orbits. Antennules folded longitudinally. Antennae with elongated basal antennal segment, usually produced on anterolateral angle.

Masking behaviour and related biology of Notomithrax ursus (Oxyrhyncha: Majidae).
1982Notomithrax ursus actively cuts and attaches adventitious materials to the hooked hairs on its dorsal exoskeleton. Investigation of the general biology, ecology, and behaviour of N. ursus (Section I) showed that these crabs invest considerable amounts of time and energy, at all stages of their life history, in forming and maintaining the mask.
