Cottonseed Malate Synthase [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Physiology, 1987
Malate synthase (EC 4.1.3.2), an enzyme unique to the glyoxylate cycle, was purified to homogeneity from cotyledons of 72-hours, darkgrown cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) seedlings. Homogeneity of the enzyme was assessed by silver staining SDS-PAGE gels.

Production of Glyoxylate from Glucose in Engineered Escherichia coli

open access: yesFermentation, 2023
Glyoxylates are essential intermediates in several metabolic pathways and have a broad range of industrial applications. In this study, we propose a novel method for producing glyoxylate from glucose using engineered Escherichia coli BW25113.

CYTOCHEMICAL LOCALIZATION OF MALATE SYNTHASE IN GLYOXYSOMES [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Cell Biology, 1974
Cytochemical staining techniques for microbodies (peroxisomes) are limited at present to the enzymes catalase and α-hydroxy acid oxidase, and neither technique can distinguish glyoxysomes from other microbodies. Described here is a procedure using ferricyanide for the cytochemical demonstration by light and electron microscopy of malate synthase ...

Structure-based discovery of phenyl-diketo acids derivatives as Mycobacterium tuberculosis malate synthase inhibitors

open access: yesJournal of Biomolecular Structure and Dynamics, 2020
Mycobacterium tuberculosis remains one of the most successful bacterial pathogens worldwide. The development of drug-resistant strains and the ability of the bacteria to persist in a latent form in the host are major problems for tuberculosis (TB ...

Comparative transcriptome analysis reveals key genes potentially related to soluble sugar and organic acid accumulation in watermelon. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2018
Soluble sugars and organic acids are important components of fruit flavor and have a strong impact on the overall organoleptic quality of watermelon (Citrullus lanatus) fruit.

Metabolic acclimation supports higher aluminium-induced secretion of citrate and malate in an aluminium-tolerant hybrid clone of Eucalyptus

open access: yesBMC Plant Biology, 2021
Background Eucalyptus is the main plantation wood species, mostly grown in aluminized acid soils. To understand the response of Eucalyptus clones to aluminum (Al) toxicity, the Al-tolerant Eucalyptus grandis × E.

18O‐Studies with Citrate Synthase and Malate Synthase [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Biochemistry, 1969
The labelling pattern of a β‐hydroxyacid, synthesized on nucleophilic enzymatic reaction of acetyl‐CoA with an α‐oxoacid in H218O, yields information about the mechanism of this type of enzyme action. Two related reactions catalyzed by citrate synthase and malate synthase were investigated in H218O. Malate was formed as the product in both cases.

Essential lipid autacoids rewire mitochondrial energy efficiency in metabolic dysfunction‐associated fatty liver disease

open access: yesHepatology, EarlyView., 2022
Increased liver content of DHA‐derived small lipid autacoids (i.e resolvin D1 and maresin 1) associates with enhanced mitochondrial oxidative phosphorylation, fatty acid β‐oxidation and bioenergetic metabolic flux. These features provide hepatic protection from steatotic, pro‐inflammatory and fibrogenic insults.
