Deficiency of 2‐Oxoglutarate Carrier (Slc25a11) Drives RPE Epithelial‐to‐Mesenchymal Transition and Exacerbates Subretinal Fibrosis in Neovascular Age‐Related Macular Degeneration

open access: yesAging Cell, EarlyView.
The diagram shows that OGC deficiency leads to mitochondrial dysfunction, which activates the PI3K/AKT/Slug pathway and triggers epithelial‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in retinal pigment epithelial cells. This process promotes myofibroblast accumulation and subretinal fibrosis in laser‐induced CNV, contributing to the progression of AMD.

The preparation of the optical isomers of miotine [PDF]

open access: yes, 1932
The present investigation was undertaken with the object of developing a method for the preparation of the stereoisomerides of the methyl urethane of a- m- hydroxyphenylethyldimethylamine ( formula I) in amounts which would render them available for

Revealing the Diverse Allergenic Protein Repertoire of Six Widely Consumed Crab Species: A Species‐Specific Allergen in King Crab

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
This study comprehended the allergen profiles of six edible crab species using proteomic and transcriptomic analyses and identified 11 putative allergens. King crab has a distinct protein and allergen profile, with the discovery of malate dehydrogenase as a novel king crab‐specific allergen registered as Para c 11.

Protective Role for Itaconate During Inhaled Allergen Challenge

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
Itaconate levels decrease in sputum following allergen inhalation in mild asthmatics, suggesting a dynamic metabolic response to airway challenge. Genetic deletion of Acod1 in mice did not alter airway inflammation or remodelling in response to chronic HDM exposure.

Composition of Arkansas Grapes During Maturation [PDF]

open access: yes, 1976
Changes in organic acid and glucose content during maturation and ripening of grapes grown in Arkansas in 1973 are shown for four French hybrid varieties, S5279, S10878, SV23- 657, and S13053, and for four rotundifolia varieties, Scuppernong, Tarheel ...

Biallelic TMEM126B Variants as a Novel Cause of Kidney Failure—Implications for Mitochondrial Genetic Testing in Nephrology

open access: yesClinical Genetics, EarlyView.
An adult with kidney failure had compound‐heterozygous TMEM126B variants causing mitochondrial complex I deficiency. This expands TMEM126B to mitochondrial nephropathy and supports including mitochondrial genes in renal genetic testing.
