The sterile insect technique used as a barrier control against reinfestation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
The sterile insect technique consists in massive release of sterilized males in the aim to reduce the size of mosquitoes population or even eradicate it. In this work, we investigate the feasability of using the sterile insect technique as a barrier against reinvasion.

Sustainable vector/pest control using the permanent Sterile Insect Technique [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Vector/Pest control is essential to reduce the risk of vector-borne diseases or losses in crop fields. Among biological control tools, the sterile insect technique (SIT), is the most promising one. SIT control generally consists of massive releases of sterile insects in the targeted area in order to reach elimination or to lower the pest population ...

Targeting the MDM2‐MDM4 interaction interface reveals an otherwise therapeutically active wild‐type p53 in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study investigates an alternative approach to reactivating the oncosuppressor p53 in cancer. A short peptide targeting the association of the two p53 inhibitors, MDM2 and MDM4, induces an otherwise therapeutically active p53 with unique features that promote cell death and potentially reduce toxicity towards proliferating nontumor cells.

Uncovering ceRNA integrated networks that associate with fertility in a photoperiod and temperature sensitive male sterile wheat line

open access: yesBiotechnology & Biotechnological Equipment, 2021
The pollen fertility of photoperiod/temperature sensitive genic male sterile (P/TGMS) wheat is controlled by light and/or temperature. Circular RNA (circRNA) and long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) are known to participate in the development of anthers in ...

Global stabilization of a Sterile Insect Technique model by feedback laws [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
This work concerns feedback global stabilization of the sterile insect technique dynamics. The Sterile Insect Technique (SIT) is presently one of the most ecological methods for controlling insect pests responsible for crop destruction and disease transmission worldwide.

Thermal proteome profiling and proteome analysis using high‐definition mass spectrometry demonstrate modulation of cholesterol biosynthesis by next‐generation galeterone analog VNPP433‐3β in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Elevated level of cholesterol is positively correlated to prostate cancer development and disease severity. Cholesterol‐lowering drugs, such as statins, are demonstrated to inhibit prostate cancer. VNPP433‐3β interrupts multiple signaling and metabolic pathways, including cholesterol biosynthesis, AR‐mediated transcription of several oncogenes, mRNA 5′

Molecular Mapping of D1, D2 and ms5 Revealed Linkage between the Cotyledon Color Locus D2 and the Male-Sterile Locus ms5 in Soybean

open access: yesPlants, 2013
In soybean, genic male sterility can be utilized as a tool to develop hybrid seed. Several male-sterile, female-fertile mutants have been identified in soybean. The male-sterile, female-fertile ms5 mutant was selected after fast neutron irradiation. Male-

Optimal control strategies for the sterile mosquitoes technique [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
Mosquitoes are responsible for the transmission of many diseases such as dengue fever, zika or chigungunya. One way to control the spread of these diseases is to use the sterile insect technique (SIT), which consists in a massive release of sterilized male mosquitoes.

Exploration of heterogeneity and recurrence signatures in hepatocellular carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study leveraged public datasets and integrative bioinformatic analysis to dissect malignant cell heterogeneity between relapsed and primary HCC, focusing on intercellular communication, differentiation status, metabolic activity, and transcriptomic profiles.

Phenology, sterility and inheritance of two environment genic male sterile (EGMS) lines for hybrid rice

open access: yesRice, 2017
Background There is still limited quantitative understanding of how environmental factors affect sterility of Environment-conditioned genic male sterility (EGMS) lines.
