Copolymerization of phenanthrene and maleic anhydride

Journal of Polymer Science Part A-1: Polymer Chemistry, 1968
Abstract A study of the copolymerization of phenanthrene and maleic anhydride was carried out at 60°C using AIBN as a radical initiator. The copolymerization is characterized by the fact that these two monomers are hardly homopolymerized, and the complex formed by the two monomers may promote the copolymerization.

Homopolymerization of maleic anhydride

Die Makromolekulare Chemie, 1977
AbstractPyridine and picoline initiated polymerizations of maleic anhydride were investigated in acetic anhydride. It was found that the electrical conductivity of the polymerizing mixture increases in the course of the reaction, and that the initial rate of polymerization increases with increasing monomer and pyridine concentrations, and its values ...

Production of Maleic Anhydride

1982
The first commercial process for MA production was put into use by National Aniline and Chemical in 1928.* It used the Weiss and Downs process employing benzene as a raw material.(1) In 1930, Monsanto made available MA which was a by-product of their phthalic anhydride manufacture. Petrotex also used their butene-based process in the early 1960s, which

Poly(maleic Anhydride)

Journal of Macromolecular Science, Part C: Polymer Reviews, 1975
Abstract The concept that maleic anhydride cannot be homopolymerized is so widely accepted that it is cited in most textbooks on polymer science as an illustration of the steric hindrance imposed by 1,2-disubstitution of the double bond. However, in recent years it has been demonstrated that maleic anhydride readily undergoes polymerization under gamma
