メタクリル酸グリシジルと無水マレイン酸とのラジカル共重合をアセトンまたはジオキサン中で40°または50℃で行なった。モノマー組成とコポリマー組成の関係はpenultimate effectを考えれば合理的に説明できる。モノマー反応性比は50℃では4.2 (rG) および0 (rM=rM′=1/rG′) であり, 40℃ては4.5 (rG) および0 (rM=rM′=1/rG′) である。コポリマーはエポキシ基および無水マレイン酸基の反応で不溶性に変わる。
