Effectiveness of Different Antimicrobial Agents on Malodor Prevention in Two-Stage Dental Implants: A Double-Blinded Randomized Clinical Trial

open access: yes, 2023
Objective Opening of a healing abutment in two-stage implant systems is usually followed by a bad smell. Previous studies have found that presence of bacteria in microleakages of the implant-abutment interface results in further malodor. However, studies

Ant–aphid mutualism: the influence of Tapinoma ibericum (Hymenoptera: Formicidae) on Aphis gossypii (Hemiptera: Aphidae) control by commercial and spontaneous natural enemies

open access: yesInsect Science, EarlyView.
The mutualism between Tapinoma ibericum ants and Aphis gossypii disrupts the biological control exerted by Aphidius colemani in greenhouse peppers. Ant exclusion increased parasitism and the presence of most natural enemies, although Aphidoletes aphidimyza was more abundant with ants.

Evaluation of Odour Release from Urine Absorbing Aids

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2012
This paper describes the method to assess the urine malodor reduction measured on absorbent articles designed to handle unintentional urine loss of different severity, ranging from few drops to complete loss of bladder control.

Crossroads of the Life of Vittorio Alfieri

open access: yesJournal for Eighteenth-Century Studies, EarlyView.
Abstract This article examines Vittorio Alfieri's Life as a deliberately constructed narrative of cultural, linguistic, and political self‐fashioning within eighteenth‐century European intellectual networks. Rather than treating the autobiography as a transparent record of experience, the article argues that Alfieri retrospectively reorganizes his ...

Degree of insecticide exposure and access to nectar impact survival of Trissolcus japonicus, a hymenopteran parasitoid, in flowering border strips

open access: yesAgricultural and Forest Entomology, EarlyView.
We applied three thiamethoxam spray treatments to buckwheat border strips: control (no nearby spray), drift (adjacent peach trees directly sprayed) and direct spray (buckwheat and peaches directly sprayed). Drift‐treated buckwheat received about 1.4% the amount of thiamethoxam as direct‐spray buckwheat. This amount has no lethal effects on parasitoids,

Assessing the host plants of the invasive apricot aphid, Myzus mumecola (Hemiptera: Aphididae)

open access: yesAgricultural and Forest Entomology, EarlyView.
We investigated the host plants of the invasive apricot aphid Myzus mumecola (Hemiptera: Aphididae), an emerging pest species in Europe, by combining molecular and ecological approaches. The winter host plant was confirmed as apricot by both methods.

Control of Fecal Malodor by Adsorption onto Biochar

open access: yes, 2017
The provision of sanitation services has been accelerated as part of the Sustainable Development Goals with increasing focus on the need for solutions within the fecal sludge management services supply chain. One common constraint in the sanitation value
