The Complete Genome Sequences of Four Species of Adansonia (Malvaceae, Malvales). [PDF]

open access: yesBiodivers Genomes
We present the complete genome sequences of four species of Baobabs: Adansonia grandidieri, Adansonia gregorii, Adansonia madagascariensis, Adansonia rubrostipa. Illumina sequencing was performed on DNA extracted from single leaves. The reads were assembled using a de novo method followed by a finishing step.

Molecular phylogenetics of Sarcolaenaceae (Malvales), Madagascar's largest endemic plant family [PDF]

open access: bronzeBotanical Journal of the Linnean Society, 2016
With 72 species belonging to ten genera, Sarcolaenaceae are the largest and most diverse of Madagascar's endemic plant families. Comprising shrubs and trees, with members found in nearly all of this island nation's biogeographic regions, they are characterised by the presence of a distinctive extra-floral involucre that is more or less accrescent ...

CHROMOSOME NUMBERS AND KARYOTYPE STUDIES OF FEW MEMBERS OF MALVALES

open access: green, 2019
Chromosome numbers and karyomorphological data are essential in selecting the suitable species for plant breeding programmes, resolving taxonomic confusions, tracing the evolutionary tendencies and evolving ployploid varieties. In this study, we analysed the karyotype analysis of five malvales species, viz., Sida rhombifolia, Sida spinosa, Sida acuta ...

Threatened endemic arthropods and vertebrates partition their diets with non-native ants in an isolated island ecosystem. [PDF]

open access: yesEcology
Abstract The success of non‐native species depends on their ability to find food, which may ultimately lead to competition with native species and contribute to biodiversity loss in invaded ecosystems. Understanding which food resources are consumed is therefore crucial for evaluating how non‐native species mechanistically fit into native biological ...
