Humanization of the Mouse Mammary Gland

2015
Although mouse models have provided invaluable information on the mechanisms of mammary gland development, anatomical and developmental differences between human and mice limit full understanding of this fundamental process. Humanization of the mouse mammary gland by injecting immortalized human breast stromal cells into the cleared murine mammary fat ...

Alteration of human placental lactogen by mammary gland

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - General Subjects, 1977
Human placental lactogen was prepared in high purity and in good yield applying a minimum of purification steps. The isolated hormone was characterized with respect to isoelectric and electrophoretic properties, molecular size (estimated mol. wt. 23 000) and stability to heat, pH and organic solvents.

Neuroendocrine markers are expressed in human mammary glands

Regulatory Peptides, 2010
Regulatory peptides have previously been detected in epithelial cells of human mammary glands. As these peptides are produced by scattered neuroendocrine cells in the epithelium of other tissues the aim of this study was to investigate whether the mammary glands express molecular markers for neuroendocrine cells.Specimens from 28 human mammary glands ...

Adrenomedullin in mammalian and human skin glands including the mammary gland

Acta Histochemica, 2002
Adrenomedullin is a peptide that has been ascribed numerous functions. In the present paper, adrenomedullin has been localized immunhistochemically in a variety of skin glands of humans, elephants and impalas: apocrine scent glands, eccrine sweat glands, holocrine glands and mammary glands.

The Comparative Pathology of Human and Mouse Mammary Glands

Journal of Mammary Gland Biology and Neoplasia, 1999
The mouse has emerged as a primary animal model for human breast cancer because the mammary glands of the two species are very similar in structure and function. In this regard the TDLU and LA have similar morphology. The mouse, infected by MMTV, develops "spontaneous" tumors with specific but limited tumor phenotypes.

Ultrastructure of myoepithelial cells in human mammary gland tumors

Cancer, 1968
The relationship of myoepithelial cells to epithelial cells in normal mammary gland and in various diseases of this organ were studied. The evidence suggests that myoepithelial cells play an important role in the formation of some benign and malignant tumors of the breast. The study also showed the presence of light and dark myoepithelial cells.

Secretory phenomena in the non-lactating human mammary gland

Annals of Anatomy - Anatomischer Anzeiger, 2007
The normal non-lactating premenopausal human mammary gland has been shown by immunohistochemistry and transmission electron microscopy to secrete a number of antimicrobial peptides such as beta-defensins, the cathelicidin LL37, lactoferrin and adrenomedullin.

Human Papillomavirus in Lesions of Anogenital Mammary-Like Glands

International Journal of Gynecological Pathology, 2007
Long considered as ectopic breast tissue, anogenital mammary-like glands (MLGs) have recently been suggested to represent distinctive structures located in the anogenital area. We studied 16 neoplasms of anogenital MLG for human papillomavirus (HPV) DNA using INNO-line probe assay (LiPA) HPV Genotyping kit, GP5+/6+, CP(SGB), and FAP 6085-6319 primer ...

Ultrastructure of the Human Mammary Gland. II. Postpartum Lactogenesis

The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, 1975
The history and fine structure of 7 human mammary glands were studied in the post partum. Widespread hypertrophy and hyperplasia of the mammary acini were observed accompanied by dilatation and engorgement of the lumen by milk. Loose strands of connective tissue surrounding the mammary lobules and ductules contained dilated, engorged vascular channels.

Monoclonal antibodies to the human mammary gland

Virchows Archiv A Pathological Anatomy and Histology, 1982
Mouse monoclonal antibodies have been raised to the human milk fat globule membrane. The distribution of the antigens detected by four of the antibodies has been examined in formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded human tissues by light microscopic immunocytochemistry. The four antibodies stain lactating breast and normal resting breast. Two exclusively stain
