Lesion Diameter Versus Inflammatory Biomarkers and Clinical Severity in Predicting Treatment Selection in Idiopathic Granulomatous Mastitis

open access: yesWorld Journal of Surgery, Volume 50, Issue 10, Page 2817-2827, October 2026.
Idiopathic granulomatous mastitis (IGM) is a rare chronic inflammatory breast disease with no established predictor to guide medical versus surgical treatment. Neutrophil‐to‐lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and C‐reactive protein (CRP) have been proposed, but prior reports rarely adjusted for lesion morphology or other markers of disease severity.

The pathobiology of mammographic density [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
High mammographic density confers a significantly increased risk of breast cancer. As it is relatively common in the normal population the risk of cancer attributable to increased mammographic density could potentially account for an important percentage

The association of breast mitogens with mammographic densities [PDF]

open access: yesBritish Journal of Cancer, 2002
Radiologically dense breast tissue (mammographic density) is strongly associated with risk of breast cancer, but the biological basis for this association is unknown. In this study we have examined the association of circulating levels of hormones and growth factors with mammographic density.
