Model‐based image restoration targeting higher‐dose digital mammography: Impact on radiologists' detection of clustered microcalcifications

open access: yesMedical Physics, Volume 53, Issue 11, November 2026.
Abstract Background Image noise in digital mammography (DM) can obscure image details and reduce the detectability of clinically relevant findings such as microcalcifications. Purpose To present and evaluate an extended model‐based (MB) image restoration pipeline for DM that incorporates quantum, electronic, and structural noise components, as well as ...

Mammographic Breast Density and Common Genetic Variants in Breast Cancer Risk Prediction. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
INTRODUCTION:Known prediction models for breast cancer can potentially by improved by the addition of mammographic density and common genetic variants identified in genome-wide associations studies known to be associated with risk of the disease.

Hydrogel‐Based 3D‐Printed Anthropomorphic Breast Phantom for Emulating Mechanical and Dielectric Properties of Mammary Tissue. Applications in Microwave Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 82, 12 October 2026.
A 3D‐printable breast phantom is developed using patient‐derived MRI data and hydrogels that replicate the dielectric properties of healthy and cancerous tissues. Mechanical and dielectric characterization confirm its suitability for microwave imaging.

Mammographic density and markers of socioeconomic status: a cross-sectional study

open access: yesBMC Cancer, 2010
Background Socioeconomic status (SES) is known to be positively associated with breast cancer risk but its relationship with mammographic density, a marker of susceptibility to breast cancer, is unclear.

Exceptional Locoregional Pathological Response in Metastatic Triple‐Negative Breast Cancer Treated With Palliative Platinum‐Based Chemotherapy

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Locoregional pathological complete response with concurrent radiologic metabolic remission following palliative gemcitabine–carboplatin chemotherapy in young, low‐grade metastatic triple‐negative breast cancer patient suggests potential chemosensitivity in select advanced cases, warranting further clinical investigation.

Exploratory Analysis of Circulating miR‐486‐3p and miR‐21‐5p in Early Detection and Subtype Classification of Luminal A and B Breast Cancer in Peruvian Women

open access: yesCancer Reports, Volume 9, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Breast cancer (BC) remains the most common malignancy among women worldwide, and early detection is essential for improving clinical outcomes. There is a growing need for accessible, minimally invasive molecular biomarkers that complement current diagnostic approaches and support molecular subtype classification.

Mammographic densities and risk of breast cancer [PDF]

open access: yesCancer, 1991
To determine the relation of mammographic densities to subsequent breast cancer risk, a case-control study was undertaken using prediagnostic mammograms of screening program participants. Mammograms of cases (n = 266) and controls (n = 301) were blindly assessed for mammographic densities, which were measured by planimetry.
