Quantifying Effect-Specific Mammographic Density [PDF]
A methodology is introduced for the automated assessment of structural changes of breast tissue in mammograms. It employs a generic machine learning framework and provides objective breast density measures quantifying the specific biological effects of interest.

Gene Expression Biomarkers for Breast Ductal Carcinoma in Situ Recurrence Prediction
ABSTRACT Breast ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) is often overtreated due to a lack of robust prognostic and predictive tools. This study aimed to evaluate gene expression in a well‐characterised DCIS cohort to determine their clinical utility as biomarkers for ipsilateral recurrence. RNA was extracted from microdissected tissues from primary DCIS.

Background Elevated mammographic density is associated with increased breast cancer risk. However, the contribution of longitudinal changes in mammographic density to breast cancer risk beyond initial mammographic density levels, considering familial ...

Background Adolescence and early adulthood has been identified as a critical time window for establishing breast cancer risk. Mammographic density is an independent risk factor for breast cancer that may be influenced by diet, but there has been limited ...

Abbreviated MRI and Ultrafast MRI of the Breast
ABSTRACT Detection of breast cancer in MRI requires fast, dynamic contrast enhanced (DCE) imaging covering the immediate post‐contrast phase, that is, the first 60 s after contrast injection. This ensures selective depiction of invasive cancer as well as DCIS against an otherwise dark background, that is, before background parenchymal enhancement (BPE)

Mammographic density represents one the strongest predictors of breast cancer risk. Here the authors perform genome-wide association study meta-analysis of women screened with full-field digital mammography and identify 31 previously unreported loci ...

ABSTRACT Green tea catechins have chemopreventive potential; however, the clinical evidence remains inconsistent. This review evaluated the effects of supplementation with green tea derivatives on chemoprevention at different stages of carcinogenesis. PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, Scopus, the Cochrane Library, CINAHL, and Google Scholar were searched

Prenatal diethylstilbestrol exposure and mammographic density [PDF]
In a prospective cohort study of the health effects associated with prenatal Diethylstilbestrol (DES) exposure, DES was associated with an increased breast cancer risk after 40 years of age. It is unknown whether it is associated with greater mammographic density, which strongly predicts breast cancer risk.

Breast density and parenchymal patterns as markers of breast cancer risk: a meta-analysis.
Mammographic features are associated with breast cancer risk, but estimates of the strength of the association vary markedly between studies, and it is uncertain whether the association is modified by other risk factors.
