Investigating Novel Inflammatory Indices and Their Links to Mortality, Cancer, and Cardiovascular Disease: A 10‐Year Cohort Study

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 9, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract Background and Aims Inflammatory indices, including neutrophil‐to‐lymphocyte‐platelet ratio (NLPR), systemic immune‐inflammation index (SII), platelet‐to‐lymphocyte ratio (PLR), and neutrophil‐to‐lymphocyte ratio (NLR) have been proposed as prognostic markers for mortality.

Contrasting effects of temperature across trophic levels in geothermally warmed soil food webs

open access: yesOikos, Volume 2026, Issue 5, May 2026.
Global warming is altering the structure and dynamics of ecological communities, with significant consequences for soil food webs. Rising temperatures are expected to accelerate metabolic rates in organisms, potentially altering species interactions, and the structure and energetics of food webs.

Ecotoxicological Evaluation of Organic Sunscreens Used Worldwide, Alone and in Mixture, on Terrestrial Plants

open access: yesEnvironmental Toxicology, Volume 41, Issue 5, Page 257-269, May 2026.
ABSTRACT The environmental hazards of sunscreens are discussed worldwide. However, there are few ecotoxicological studies on these compounds alone for edaphic organisms, and none for their mixtures. Avobenzone (1 and 10 ng/L), octocrylene (10 and 100 μg/L), and oxybenzone (2 and 20 μg/L), alone and in binary combinations (between the lowest and the ...

Knowledge, Attitudes and Practices of Cattle Owners Towards Bovine Tuberculosis in and Around Nekemte Town, Western Ethiopia

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 3, May 2026.
Cattle owners KAPs towards bovine tuberculosis were assessed using a structured questionnaire. Out of 200 study participants 20.5%, 33.5% and 29.0% showed good knowledge, desired attitude and appropriate practices, respectively. Education level was associated with their KAPs, and awareness creation campaigns using a one health approach are necessary ...

Evaluation of White Blood Cell Ratios in Newly Diagnosed Multicentric Lymphoma in Dogs

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 3, May 2026.
Neutrophil‐to‐lymphocyte and platelet‐to‐lymphocyte ratios were significantly higher, whereas the monocyte‐to‐lymphocyte ratio was lower, in dogs with lymphoma compared to healthy controls at diagnosis. These findings suggest that CBC‐derived inflammatory ratios may reflect tumour‐associated systemic inflammation in canine lymphoma. ABSTRACT Background

A Comprehensive Case Study of Wind Energy Production Forecasting in Türkiye Using Enhanced Attention BiLSTM

open access: yesWind Energy, Volume 29, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT The global demand for electrical energy continues to rise steadily, with Türkiye experiencing particularly significant growth in energy consumption. To address this increasing demand sustainably, renewable energy sources (RES) have become the primary focus, with wind energy (WE) leading the transition.

Can Eulerian Eddy Diffusivity Be Inferred From Lagrangian Trajectories?

open access: yesJournal of Advances in Modeling Earth Systems, Volume 18, Issue 5, May 2026.
Abstract Lagrangian particle trajectories are widely used to characterize tracer dispersion and mixing driven by mesoscale currents (“eddies”), leading to estimates of eddy diffusivity that can in turn be used in non‐eddy‐resolving and eddy‐permitting ocean models.
