Modeling Fiber Dispersion in a Single‐Screw Extruder for Long Fiber‐Reinforced Thermoplastics

open access: yesPolymer Composites, EarlyView.
Fiber dispersion throughout the screw channel ABSTRACT Understanding the mechanics of fiber attrition during the plasticizing process is important in predicting the strength of long fiber‐reinforced thermoplastics (LFT) composites. Fiber dispersion has been found to impact fiber damage during processing and therefore final fiber length in the final ...

Topological magnon modes on honeycomb lattice with coupling textures

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
Topological magnon modes are expected to be useful for novel applications such as robust information propagation, since they are immune to backscattering and robust against disorder. Although there are several theoretical proposals for topological magnon

Ground‐truthing of satellite imagery to assess seabird colony size: A test using Adélie penguins

open access: yesRemote Sensing in Ecology and Conservation, EarlyView.
Adélie penguin colony size can be estimated from space using very high‐resolution (VHR; 0.3–0.6 m resolution) satellite imagery due to the contrast between their guano stain and the surrounding terrain. Our study assessed the utility of VHR imagery for making indirect assessments of changes in colony size.
