An Effective Iterative Process Utilizing Transcendental Sine Functions for the Generation of Julia and Mandelbrot Sets

open access: yesFractal and Fractional
This study presents an innovative iterative method designed to approximate common fixed points of generalized contractive mappings. We provide theorems that confirm the convergence and stability of the proposed iteration scheme, further illustrated ...

Fractional Gaussian Noise: Spectral Density and Estimation Methods

open access: yesJournal of Time Series Analysis, Volume 46, Issue 6, Page 1146-1174, November 2025.
The fractional Brownian motion (fBm) process, governed by a fractional parameter H∈(0,1)$$ H\in \left(0,1\right) $$, is a continuous‐time Gaussian process with its increment being the fractional Gaussian noise (fGn). This article first provides a computationally feasible expression for the spectral density of fGn.

Asymmetric stable stochastic volatility models: estimation, filtering, and forecasting

open access: yesJournal of Time Series Analysis, Volume 46, Issue 6, Page 1098-1124, November 2025.
This article considers a stochastic volatility model featuring an asymmetric stable error distribution and a novel way of accounting for the leverage effect. We adopt simulation‐based methods to address key challenges in parameter estimation, the filtering of time‐varying volatility, and volatility forecasting.

Enhancing stone provenance studies through software built with language model artificial intelligence (AI): An example of ancient Calabrian quarries (southern Italy)

open access: yesArchaeometry, Volume 67, Issue 5, Page 1283-1308, October 2025.
Abstract This study represents the first attempt to develop archaeometric software that enables researchers without programming knowledge to address archaeometric challenges, specifically determining the provenance of rocks extracted from ancient quarries.

Generalized Logistic Maps in the Complex Plane: Structure, Symmetry, and Escape-Time Dynamics

open access: yesAxioms
In this paper, we introduce a generalised formulation of the logistic map extended to the complex plane and correspondingly redefine the classical Mandelbrot and Julia sets within this broader framework.

Resting‐State Functional MRI Analyses for Brain Activity Characterization: A Narrative Review of Features and Methods

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Neuroscience, Volume 62, Issue 8, October 2025.
Functional connectivity is a popular resting‐state functional MRI analysis. Nevertheless, there are alternative approaches that can be used to characterize the BOLD signal differently, which allow for indirect characterization of brain activity, focusing on regional connectivity, intensity, and complexity.

Non-linearity of the dynamics of transcendental function using Fibonacci–Mann iteration and some critical remarks

open access: yesAlexandria Engineering Journal
With a generalized setting of transcendental functions associated with a non-linear variable, we have observed the combinatorial structures of the fractals of Julia sets and Mandelbrot sets due to the function zκcos(zκ)+pz2+q, in the complex plane with p,

lacunr: Efficient 3D lacunarity for voxelized LiDAR data from forested ecosystems

open access: yesMethods in Ecology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 9, Page 1906-1913, September 2025.
Abstract Structural complexity has been considered a key driver of ecological phenomena in forested ecosystems. Geographic metrics that attempt to summarize the heterogeneity of complex 3‐dimensional (3D) spatial structures, such as fractal dimension and rugosity, provide insights into ecological processes such as biodiversity, productivity and ...

Newton-Mandelbrot set and Murase-Mandelbrot set

open access: yes
We obtain four extended Newton's methods and three extended Mandelbrot's recurrence formulas from the Wasan (Japanese mathematics in the Edo period (1603-1868)). Furthermore, two extended Newton's methods relate to one of the extended Mandelbrot's recurrence formulas. We lead four types of extended Mandelbrot recurrence formulas.
