Role of SoxE transcription factors in development and disease

open access: yesDevelopmental Dynamics, EarlyView.
Abstract Sox8, Sox9, and Sox10 arose by multiple rounds of genome duplications from a single SoxE gene in ancestral vertebrates. In this review, we will briefly discuss the molecular structure and function of SoxE transcription factors and their evolutionary origin. We will then discuss their expression, function, and developmental disorders.

Secretopathies emerge as a new class of neurocristopathies

open access: yesDevelopmental Dynamics, EarlyView.
Abstract Neural crest cells are a transient embryonic population of cells that give rise to a wide range of structures, including craniofacial cartilage and bone, peripheral neurons and glia, as well as components of the cardiac outflow tract, among others.

Assessing root canal anatomy of canine teeth and prevalence of impacted canines in a Saudi Arabian subpopulation through cone-beam computed tomography imaging

open access: yesFolia Morphologica
BACKGROUND: Canines play a crucial role in arch development, dental aesthetics, and occlusal function. Variations in root canal morphology can considerably impact upon root canal treatment outcomes. Therefore, the aim of this study was to assess the root

Zebrafish ventral gastrula fate map reveals neural crest progenitor domain

open access: yesDevelopmental Dynamics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Fate maps relate progenitor cell positions to later fates and locations of their progeny, revealing early embryonic organization. Previous zebrafish fate maps identified the origin of germ layers and derivative cell fates, but ventral gastrula progenitor domains were not fully resolved. In particular, the neural crest, a multipotent

Jaw‐specific stem cell dynamics are associated with distinct enamel architecture in mouse incisors

open access: yesDevelopmental Dynamics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background The continuously growing mouse incisor serves as a model for stem cell‐driven tooth renewal. Although mice possess maxillary and mandibular incisors, most studies have focused on the mandible. Potential differences in structure and renewal between these serially homologous organs remain insufficiently characterized.

Severely Full-Arch Deep Overbite Treated With Clear Aligners

open access: yesInternational Dental Journal
Introduction: Deep overbite treatment has always been a challenge in orthodontics, especially for full-arch deep overbite cases. Traditional fixed orthodontic methods achieve better results, but they often compromise comfort and aesthetics, leading to a ...

Differential sensitivity to SHH signaling and neural crest‐mediated Gas1 expression regulate jaw size during development and evolution

open access: yesDevelopmental Dynamics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Developmental control of jaw size is crucial to prevent birth defects and facilitate evolutionary adaptation. We have shown that jaw size is established by neural crest mesenchyme (NCM), which are progenitor cells that migrate into the mandibular primordia and produce the jaws.

To Evaluate the Relationship between Maxillary and Mandibular Base Lengths with Dental Crowding in Different Skeletal Malocclusions

open access: yesJournal of Indian Orthodontic Society
Introduction Exploring the relationship between arch dimensions and crowding has long been a topic of interest. Many studies have found significant relationship between the two, while others have suggested that crowding is a multifactorial condition and ...
