Prosthetic complications have been frequently reported in implant-supported complete-arch prosthesis. Prosthetic restorations designed with an all-on-four treatment concept and fabricated from zirconia ceramic may be used to overcome these problems. The purpose of this biomechanical study was to evaluate the effects of cantilever length and inclination ...

The anterior cantilever in the implant-supported screw-retained mandibular prosthesis
The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 2003When implants are placed interforaminally in mandibular implant-supported screw-retained prostheses, the most anterior implant is usually positioned lingual to the incisors of the prosthesis. This creates an anterior cantilever with the entire prosthesis acting as a class I lever and possibly placing the anterior implant under alternating tension and ...

A 69-year-old woman presented to the Osaka University Dental Hospital. She had two chief complaints, (a) food accumulation under the lower teeth and (b) poor maxillary denture retention while eating. On clinical examination the patient presented with a maxillary complete denture and fixed mandibular implant prosthesis.

Within-subject Comparisons of Implant-supported Mandibular Prostheses: Choice of Prosthesis
Journal of Dental Research, 1994Although previous studies have demonstrated that implant-supported prostheses are more satisfactory and efficient for edentulous patients than are conventional prostheses, until now no investigation has directly compared different types of implant-supported prostheses.

Mandibular implant-supported fixed dental prosthesis with a modified design: A clinical report
The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 2014This clinical report describes the rehabilitation of a patient with a mandibular implant-supported fixed dental prosthesis. Because of the limited restorative space available in the posterior mandible and in considering the higher wear rate of acrylic resin in comparison with titanium when it opposes metal ceramic restorations, the treatment used a ...

Split-frame implant prosthesis designed to compensate for mandibular flexure: A clinical report
The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 2003When an edentulous mandible is restored with 4 or more implants connected by a metal bar and retained with screws, mandibular flexure may cause screw loosening and unnecessary stresses and strains on the prosthesis and implants. Separating the prosthesis at the midline can relieve these stresses and strains.

This report describes the provision of an implant‐supported hybrid overdenture in an 8‐year‐old child with mandibular anodontia. An interdisciplinary approach to treatment planning was employed. Two implant fixtures were placed in the canine regions and ball attachments connected to provide support and retention for the prosthesis.

Mandibular Fixed Prosthesis With a 3D-Printed Subperiosteal Implant: A Case Report
Journal of Oral ImplantologyThis case report aims to present the successful restoration of the atrophic partially edentulous posterior mandible using custom-made subperiosteal implants. The fixed prosthesis restoration was achieved using computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing technologies and 3D metal printing methods.
