Invasive alien species (IAS) are one of the main drivers of global ecological change. In 1946, 20 American beavers (Castor canadensis) were introduced to Tierra del Fuego, Argentina for fur purposes. Beavers expanded occupying most of the archipelago's basins and becoming an IAS with various impacts on the environment and human activities.
