Smooth sliding-mode control for spacecraft attitude tracking maneuvers

Journal of Guidance, Control, and Dynamics, 1995
A sliding-mode control (SMC) algorithm is derived and applied to quaternion-based spacecraft attitude tracking maneuvers. Based on some interesting properties related to the spacecraft model, a class of linear sliding manifolds is selected. Significantly, a Lyapunov function is introduced in the SMC design, which can avoid the inverse of the inertia ...

Minimum-time spacecraft maneuver using sliding-mode control

Acta Astronautica, 2004
Abstract The purpose of this paper is to present a sliding mode control method that can be used to perform a spacecraft large angle maneuver with minimum time. An algorithm of minimum-time SMC is developed to provide the robust tracking control.

Backstepping Sliding Mode Maneuvering Control for a Class of Surface Ships

2020 IEEE 9th Data Driven Control and Learning Systems Conference (DDCLS), 2020
This paper investigates the maneuvering problem for a class of surface ships in the presence of wave disturbance. The maneuvering problem involves the geometric task and the speed assignment along the path. In order to solve the maneuvering problem, a backstepping sliding mode controller are designed under the wave influence.

Fast sliding mode control for attitude maneuver of a flexible spacecraft

2016 IEEE Chinese Guidance, Navigation and Control Conference (CGNCC), 2016
For the issue of attitude maneuver control of a large flexible spacecraft, a new control scheme of fast terminal sliding mode control based on path planning is proposed. The attitude dynamics state equation of a flexible spacecraft with single gimbal control moment gyros was established.

Flexible spacecraft attitude maneuver by application of sliding mode control

Acta Astronautica, 2005
Abstract A sliding mode control strategy for the three-axis attitude maneuver of a flexible spacecraft model is proposed. The proposed control approach is an extension of the pure rigid spacecraft control case. In the new approach, finite dimensional mathematical modeling is unnecessary in designing the feedback control law taking the flexibility ...

Fuzzy Sliding-Mode Controller in Combined Maneuvering System of Submarine

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1999
Abstract A new approach with fuzzy sliding-mode control and double-gene genetic algorithm is proposed for designing combined maneuvering control system of submarines in the paper. Simulation results showed that the approach not only retains robustness of sliding-mode control, but also avoids the effect of chattering phenomenon and possess better ...

A Multi-Mode Smooth Command Shaper With an Adjustable Maneuver Time

Volume 3: Multiagent Network Systems; Natural Gas and Heat Exchangers; Path Planning and Motion Control; Powertrain Systems; Rehab Robotics; Robot Manipulators; Rollover Prevention (AVS); Sensors and Actuators; Time Delay Systems; Tracking Control Systems; Uncertain Systems and Robustness; Unmanned, Ground and Surface Robotics; Vehicle Dynamics Control; Vibration and Control of Smart Structures/Mech Systems; Vibration Issues in Mechanical Systems, 2015
Input shaping and command shaping are important techniques in reducing residual vibrations in rest-to-rest maneuvers. Jerks in these shapers can reduce the life time for the crane motors and electronic boards. In this work, a totally smooth command shaper with an independent adjustable maneuvering time is introduced to eliminate residual vibration in ...

AN ESTIMATOR-BASED SLIDING-MODE CONTROL FOR MANEUVERING A FLEXIBLE SPACECRAFT

Journal of Sound and Vibration, 2002
An estimator-based sliding-mode controller (ESMC) is discussed for a linear stochastic system with a known disturbance and is utilized in a flexible spacecraft for the reduction of residual vibration while allowing natural deflection during operation. By converting the tracking problem into a regulator problem, the ESMC minimizes the expected value of ...
