Dynamic Kerr Effect and Spectral Weight Transfer in the Manganites
We perform pump-probe Kerr spectroscopy in the colossally magnetoresistive manganite Pr0.67Ca0.33MnO3. Kerr effects uncover surface magnetic dynamics undetected by established methods based on reflectivity and optical spectral weight transfer.

Resonant X-ray Scattering in Manganites - Study of Orbital Degree of Freedom - [PDF]
Orbital degree of freedom of electrons and its interplay with spin, charge and lattice degrees of freedom are one of the central issues in colossal magnetoresistive manganites.

Advancing Energy Materials by In Situ Atomic Scale Methods
Progress in in situ atomic scale methods leads to an improved understanding of new and advanced energy materials, where a local understanding of complex, inhomogeneous systems or interfaces down to the atomic scale and quantum level is required. Topics from photovoltaics, dissipation losses, phase transitions, and chemical energy conversion are ...

Average Lattice Symmetry and Nanoscale Structural Correlations in Magnetoresistive Manganites [PDF]
We report x-ray scattering studies of nanoscale structural correlations in the paramagnetic phases of the perovskite manganites La$_{0.75}$(Ca$_{0.45}$Sr$_{0.55}$)$_{0.25}$MnO$_3$, La$_{0.625}$Sr$_{0.375}$MnO$_3$, and Nd$_{0.45}$Sr$_{0.55}$MnO$_3$.

Operando magnetic spectroscopy provides insight into how intrinsic magnetic order modulates the oxygen evolution reaction on La0.67Sr${\rm La}_{0.67}{\rm Sr}$0.33MnO$_{0.33}{\rm MnO}$3$_3$ thin films. Temperature‐dependent operando FMR and ambient‐pressure XMCD suggest a correlation between activity and the emergence of ferromagnetic regions near and ...

Effects of lattice distortion and Jahn–Teller coupling on the magnetoresistance of La0.7Ca0.3MnO3 and La0.5Ca0.5CoO3 epitaxial films [PDF]
Studies of La0.7Ca0.3MnO3 epitaxial films on substrates with a range of lattice constants reveal two dominant contributions to the occurrence of colossal negative magnetoresistance (CMR) in these manganites: at high temperatures (T → TC, TC being the ...

Nanoscale Phase Separation in Colossal Magnetoresistance Materials: A Lesson for the Cuprates?
A recent vast experimental and theoretical effort in manganites has shown that the colossal magnetoresistance effect can be understood based on the competition of charge-ordered and ferromagnetic phases. The general aspects of the theoretical description

Emerging Materials and Future Strategies for Solid Oxide Electrochemical Cells
Solid oxide electrochemical cells operate under strongly coupled electrochemical and thermodynamic conditions, where performance is constrained by interactions among crystal structure, defect chemistry, and interfacial evolution. This review, based on a structure‐defect‐property‐durability framework, reveals the roles of lattice symmetry and defect ...
