Confined anterior cerebral artery infarction manifesting as isolated unilateral axial weakness

Journal of the Neurological Sciences, 2017
We describe isolated unilateral axial weakness in three patients eventually diagnosed with anterior cerebral artery infarction (ACAI), a new clinical observation. Files of three ACAI patients (2 females, 1 male, ages 55-80) were retrospectively reviewed. All three presented to the ED with sudden unsteadiness.

Recurrent Hypokalemic Muscle Weakness as an Initial Manifestation of Wilson’s Disease

Nephron, 1996
A 24-year-old man had several episodes of hypokalemic muscle weakness of undetermined etiology since the age of 13 years. Wilson's disease (WD) was not diagnosed until the age of 18 when wing-beating tremor in the left upper limb was noted. Renal function study revealed incomplete proximal renal tubular acidosis.

Muscle weakness in intensive care patients: Initial manifestation of vitamin D deficiency

Intensive Care Medicine, 1994
A 72-year-old woman was referred to hospital for obnubilation with general muscle weakness and hypotonia. Biology showed hypocalcemia, hypophosphatemia, increased serum creatine kinase and alkaline phosphatase levels. Brain CT scan, cerebrospinal fluid examination, and electromyogram were normal. Clinical status and electroencephalogram were consistent

Manifestation in IR-Luminescence of Cross Relaxation Processes between NV-Centers in Weak Magnetic Fields

Journal of Applied Spectroscopy, 2021
We present a combined experimental and theoretical study of the effect of magnetic field on the luminescence from an ensemble of NV centers in diamond. It was found that the intensity of infrared luminescence associated with transitions between singlet levels of NV centers shows a pronounced increase of a near-zero magnetic field.

Spectroscopic Manifestation of Weak Intermolecular Bonds in Biopolymers

1995
Weak intermolecular interactions (IMI) have a significant influence on the specifically valuable properties of biological molecules [1]. One of the most effective methods of their investigation is low-frequency vibrational spectroscopy.

Manifestation of weak ferromagnetism and photocatalytic activity in bismuth ferrite nanoparticles

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2013
Bismuth ferrite (BFO) nanoparticles were synthesized by auto-ignition technique with and without adding ignition fuel such as citric acid. The presence of citric acid in the reaction mixture yielded highly-magnetic BFO/γ-Fe2O3 nanocomposite. When this composite was annealed to 650°C, a single phase BFO was formed with average crystallite size of 50 nm ...

Bilateral Abducens Palsies and Facial Weakness as Initial Manifestations of a Chiari 1 Malformation

Optometry and Vision Science, 2007
Chiari I malformations are rare, congenital anomalies involving the caudal herniation of the cerebellar tonsils into the upper cervical spinal canal. Osseous abnormalities of the skull permit the extension of the hindbrain below the foramen magnum and engender syringohydromyelia formation.
