Bifurcation Geometry, Global Stability, and Nonlinear Nematicon Dynamics of the Generalized Hunter–Saxton Model

open access: yesMathematics
This study examines the generalized nonlinear Hunter–Saxton (HS) model: Φtx=ΦΦxx+γΦx2,γ≠0, that describes the evolution of spatial potential and angular velocity in the vector field of nematic liquid crystals.

On the One-dimensional Stability of Viscous Strong Detonation Waves [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Building on Evans function techniques developed to study the stability of viscous shocks, we examine the stability of viscous strong detonation wave solutions of the reacting Navier-Stokes equations.

Mass rigidity for hyperbolic manifolds

open access: yes, 2019
We prove the rigidity of positive mass theorem for asymptotically hyperbolic manifolds. Namely, if the mass equality holds, then the manifold is isometric to hyperbolic space.

Spatial‐Wavelength Multiplexing Error‐Controlled Photonic Analog Computing System

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A novel photonic integrated circuit prototype implementing the concept of general‐purpose analog computing and demonstrate its capability in radio frequency applications. The chip features a multichannel architecture and performs fully optical analog computation with frequency‐domain parallel processing. An FPGA‐based error‐correction algorithm aims to

Connecting orbits for a singular nonautonomous real Ginzburg-Landau type equation

open access: yes, 2015
We propose a method for computation of stable and unstable sets associated to hyperbolic equilibria of nonautonomous ODEs and for computation of specific type of connecting orbits in nonautonomous singular ODEs.

Leveraging Artificial Intelligence and Large Language Models for Cancer Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Cancer immunotherapy faces challenges in predicting treatment responses and understanding resistance mechanisms. Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) offer powerful solutions for cancer immunotherapy in patient stratification, biomarker discovery, treatment strategy optimization, and foundation model development.

Ancient solutions to the Ricci flow with pinched curvature

open access: yes, 2010
We show that any ancient solution to the Ricci flow which satisfies a suitable curvature pinching condition must have constant sectional curvature.Comment: to appear in Duke Math ...

Low‐Power Control Of Resistance Switching Transitions in First‐Order Memristors

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
Joule losses are a serious concern in modern integrated circuit design. In this regard, minimizing the energy necessary for programming memristors should be handled with care. This manuscript presents an optimal control framework, allowing to derive energy‐efficient programming voltage protocols for resistance switching devices. Following this approach,

“It Is Much Safer to Be Sparse than Connected”: Safe Control of Robotic Swarm Density Dynamics with PDE Optimization with State Constraints

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This paper proposes a novel control framework to ensure safety of a robotic swarm. A feedback optimization controller is capable of driving the swarm toward a target density while keeping risk‐zone exposure below a safety threshold. Theory and experiments show how safety is more effectively achieved for sparsely connected swarms.

Beyond CO2: Incorporating Bicarbonate, Dynamic Carbon Speciation, and Stoichiometric Plasticity Into Algal Growth Models

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The design of biological carbon capture systems to uptake carbon dioxide by photoautotrophic cultivation of algae has been proposed to mitigate atmospheric carbon emissions. Multiple models to predict algal growth as a function of nutrients have been proposed, but few have delved into the complex dynamic reactions of algal growth as influenced
