Characterization and Quantification of Mouse Mannan‐Binding Lectins (MBL‐A and MBL‐C) and Study of Acute Phase Responses

Scandinavian Journal of Immunology, 2001
Rat monoclonal antibodies (MoAbs) against mouse mannan‐binding lectin (MBL)‐A and MBL‐C were generated and assays for MBL‐A and MBL‐C were constructed. This allowed for the quantitative analysis of both proteins for the first time. Previously only MBL‐A has been quantified using less standardized methods.

Mannan-binding lectin (MBL) in two chicken breeds and the correlation with experimental Pasteurella multocida infection

Comparative Immunology, Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, 2010
The present study is the first demonstration of an association of the genetic serum Mannan-binding lectin (MBL) concentration with bacterial infections in chickens. The genetic serum MBL concentration was determined in two chicken breeds, and the association with the specific Pasteurella multocida humoral immune response during an experimental ...

Serum levels of chicken mannan-binding lectin (MBL) during virus infections; indication that chicken MBL is an acute phase reactant

Veterinary Immunology and Immunopathology, 1999
Mannan-binding lectin (MBL) is a serum collectin which is believed to be an opsonin of the innate immune defence against various microorganisms. MBL is a minor acute phase reactant in man. We investigated the concentration of serum MBL in chickens infected with infectious bronchitis virus (IBV) and infectious laryngotracheitis virus (ILTV).

Is mannan-binding lectin (MBL) detectable on monocytes and monocyte-derived immature dendritic cells?

Biochemical Society Transactions, 2008
MBL (mannan-binding lectin; also called mannose-binding lectin) is a circulating C-type lectin with a collagen-like region synthesized mainly by the liver. MBL may influence susceptibility to infection in recipients of stem cell transplants, and it has even been suggested that the MBL status of a donor can influence the recipient's susceptibility to ...

The Mannan-Binding Lectin (MBL) Pathway of Complement Activation: Biochemistry, Biology and Clinical Implications

2005
MBL is an oligomeric protein designed to recognize pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMPs). It belongs to the family of collagen-like defence molecules characterized by being comprised of several subunits each composed of three polypeptides. The polypeptide of about 30 kD presents a collagen region attached to a globular head containing the ...

[Purification and separation of mannan-binding lectin (MBL) and MBL-associated serine proteases complex from human plasma].

Di 1 jun yi da xue xue bao = Academic journal of the first medical college of PLA, 2007
To separate mannan-binding lectin (MBL) and MBL-associated serine proteases (MASPs) from human plasma.A two-step affinity chromatography on underivatized sepharose 4B was employed for purification of MBL-MASP complex, followed by gel filtration on a Sephacryl S-300 column for separation of MBL and MASPs from the complex.
