Detection of Mannose Binding Lectin (MBL) -54 G/A Polymorphism in Preterm Labor in Hilla Province/Iraq

open access: yesJournal of Pure and Applied Microbiology, 2018
To analyzes the association between Mannose binding lectin MBL gene and preterm labor, DNA was obtained from peripheral blood of 150 aborted women patients diagnosed as preterm labor and 150 healthy individual have no previous preterm history was ...

Mass Spectrometry Insights Into Post‐Translational Modifications in Extracellular Vesicles

open access: yesMass Spectrometry Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are membrane‐enclosed structures secreted by virtually all living cells, serving as essential mediators of intercellular communication in both physiological and pathological processes. There is growing interest in their potential applications as biomarkers, therapeutic targets, and drug delivery systems, which ...

ON VASCULAR STENOSIS, RESTENOSIS AND MANNOSE BINDING LECTIN [PDF]

open access: yesABCD. Arquivos Brasileiros de Cirurgia Digestiva (São Paulo), 2016
Mannose binding lectin is a lectin instrumental in the innate immunity. It recognizes carbohydrate patterns found on the surface of a large number of pathogenic micro-organisms, activating the complement system. However, this protein seems to increase the tissue damage after ischemia.

Proteomic and Transcriptomic Signatures of Poor Asthma Symptom Control in the U‐BIOPRED Cohort

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
No stable features were identified as associated with asthma symptom control in transcriptomics or sputum proteomics. Higher TWEAKR/TNFRSF12A and MBL/MBP‐C serum levels increased the odds of uncontrolled symptoms, while higher MK08/MAPK8 and CD5L serum levels decreased the odds, after adjustment for clinical variables.

Role of the Mannose‐Binding Lectin in Innate Immunity [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Infectious Diseases, 2003
The ability to recognize infectious agents from self is intrinsic to innate immunity. One basic tenet of innate immunity is the evolution of classes of molecules that are termed "pattern-recognition" receptors and molecules. Many pattern-recognition molecules conspire together to protect the host in the first minutes and hours after exposure to an ...

A Keratin Peptide Inhibits Mannose-Binding Lectin [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Immunology, 2001
Abstract Complement plays a significant role in mediating endothelial injury following oxidative stress. We have previously demonstrated that the lectin complement pathway (LCP), which is initiated by deposition of the mannose-binding lectin (MBL), is largely responsible for activating complement on endothelial cells following periods of

International Guideline on the Diagnosis and Management of Pediatric Patients With Hereditary Angioedema

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Hereditary angioedema (HAE) with C1 inhibitor deficiency is a rare disease characterized by unpredictable episodes of tissue swelling (angioedema), which, in most cases, occur first under the age of 18 years, and entail a significant burden of disease not only for the patients but also for their families.

Computational insights into the circular permutation roles on ConA binding and structural stability

open access: yesCurrent Research in Structural Biology
The mechanisms behind Concanavalin A (ConA) circular permutation have been under investigation since 1985. Although a vast amount of information is available about this lectin and its applications, the exact purpose of its processing remains unclear.

Burkholderia cenocepacia BC2L-C is a super lectin with dual specificity and proinflammatory activity.

open access: yesPLoS Pathogens, 2011
Lectins and adhesins are involved in bacterial adhesion to host tissues and mucus during early steps of infection. We report the characterization of BC2L-C, a soluble lectin from the opportunistic pathogen Burkholderia cenocepacia, which has two distinct

Garadacimab for the long‐term prophylaxis of hereditary angioedema

open access: yesJDDG: Journal der Deutschen Dermatologischen Gesellschaft, EarlyView.
Summary Hereditary angioedema (HAE), a rare and debilitating disease characterized by recurrent and spontaneous attacks of tissue swelling, has a high unmet therapeutic need, with many patients experiencing insufficient disease control with current prophylactic treatments.
