Vector‐based comparison as a novel framework for assessing multi‐endpoint clinical trials: Applications to actual data

open access: yesClinical and Translational Discovery, Volume 6, Issue 4, August 2026.
Multi‐endpoint clinical trials face long‐standing statistical challenges. Vector‐based comparison (VBC) decomposes endpoints into orthogonal components. Applied to five clinical trials, it reduced confidence‐interval widths by about 50%, indicating higher statistical power, without altering the clinical meaning of endpoints.

Effect of osteopathic manipulative treatment on circulating cytokines: A pilot study in healthy adults

open access: yesClinical and Translational Discovery, Volume 6, Issue 4, August 2026.
A one‐time osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT) session changed circulating cytokines in healthy adults. While currently covered by most insurers to treat acute somatic dysfunction, this study provides preliminary evidence that OMT may be useful in mitigating inflammatory cytokines without overt somatic dysfunction.

What do We Mean by Environmental Heterogeneity? Toward A Mechanistically Explicit and Scale‐Dependent Framework

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 8, August 2026.
We synthesized 360 studies on environmental heterogeneity (EH) across taxa, regions, and disciplines. Only 10% of studies explicitly defined EH, and definitions were predominantly descriptive. We identify four operational interpretations of EH and propose a Research Roadmap linking EH metrics to five mechanistic hypotheses with testable predictions ...

Exploring the Cognitive Effects of Closed‐Serial and Closed‐Continuous Exercise in Aging: A Study on Dance and Endurance Training

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Sport Science, Volume 26, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Physical exercise benefits both cognition and physical health in aging, but it remains unclear whether benefits derive mainly from intensity or task complexity. Continuous exercises involve repetitive and predictable movements (e.g., running), whereas serial exercises (e.g., dancing) integrate varied motor sequences, and are cognitively more ...

Nutritional Profile, Techno‐Functional, and Thermal Properties of Wheat Flour Enriched With Yellow Mopane Worm (Gonimbrasia belina) Powder

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 8, August 2026.
Yellow mopane worm powder enhanced the nutritional and functional properties of wheat‐based composite flours by increasing protein, lysine, and mineral contents. Substitution levels up to 15% maintained pasting characteristics comparable to wheat flour, highlighting its suitability for the development of nutrient‐dense cereal products.
