Smoking-induced long-lasting modifications of human platelet serotonin catabolism through a MAO epigenetic regulation [PDF]
Postulating that serotonin, secreted from smoking-activated platelets, could be involved in smoking-induced vascular modifications, we studied 115 men distributed in smokers (S), former smokers (FS) and never smokers (NS).

Selective ethylene trimerization by titanium complexes bearing phenoxy-imine ligands: NMR and EPR Spectroscopic studies of the reaction intermediates [PDF]
The catalyst systems (FI)TiCl₃/MAO (FI = phenoxyimine ligand with an additional aryl–O–CH₃ donor) display exceptionally high activity in selective ethylene trimerization.

Lessons Learned From a Delayed‐Start Trial of Modafinil for Freezing of Gait in Parkinson's Disease
ABSTRACT Objective Freezing of gait (FOG) in people with Parkinson's disease (PwPD) is debilitating and has limited treatments. Modafinil modulates beta/gamma band activity in the pedunculopontine nucleus (PPN), like PPN deep brain stimulation. We therefore tested the hypothesis that Modafinil would improve FOG in PwPD.

Multiple Twinning in Nacre and Aragonite
Electron backscatter diffraction map of a cluster of geologic aragonite, exhibiting single, double, and triple twins. The whole cluster is approximately 2 cm wide. Colors indicate crystal orientations, so that pixels where the a‐, b‐, and c‐axis is perpendicular to the image plane are green, red, and blue, respectively.

Alkylaluminum-complexed zirconocene hydrides: identification of hydride-bridged species by NMR spectroscopy [PDF]
Reactions of unbridged zirconocene dichlorides, (R_nC_5H_5−n)_2ZrCl_2 (n = 0, 1, or 2), with diisobutylaluminum hydride (HAl^iBu_2) result in the formation of tetranuclear trihydride clusters of the type (R_nC_5H_5−n)_2Zr(μ-H)_3(Al^iBu_2)_3(μ-Cl)_2 ...

A FeN4─O/Clu@NC‐0.1Ac catalyst containing atomically‐dispersed FeN4─O sites (medium‐spin Fe2+) and Fe clusters delivered a half‐wave potential of 0.89 V for ORR and an overpotential of 330 mV at 10 mA cm−2 for OER in 0.1 m KOH. When the catalyst was used in a rechargeable Zn–air battery, a power density of 284.5 mW cm−2 was achieved with excellent ...
