Fusion of map matching and traffic sign recognition

2014 IEEE Intelligent Vehicles Symposium Proceedings, 2014
This paper presents a high performance and robust system for traffic sign recognition with digital map fusion. The proposed system is enhanced by fusion of different sensors and recognition is improved. Traffic sign is detected by a monochrome camera added by a reflective surface detector whereas recognition is achieved by a template matching algorithm.

Trajectory Data Map-matching

2021
The task of trajectory data map-matching is important and often a prerequisite step towards the provision of smart urban services. Such task is challenging mainly because of the positioning error caused by GPS devices and the uncertainty between two GPS point samples.

Graph-based map matching for indoor positioning

2015 10th International Conference on Information, Communications and Signal Processing (ICICS), 2015
This article presents a probabilistic motion model that is based on an economical graph-based indoor map representation, such that the motion of the user is constrained according to the floor plan of a building. The floor plan is modeled as a combination of links and open space polygons that are connected by nodes. In the authors' earlier work the link

Map Matching Algorithms: An Experimental Evaluation

2018
Map matching is an important operation of location-based services, which matches raw GPS trajectories onto real road networks, and facilitates tasks of urban computing, such as intelligent traffic systems, etc. More than ten algorithms have been proposed to address this problem in the recent decade. However, existing algorithms have not been thoroughly

Evaluation of map-matching techniques

Conference Record of papers presented at the First Vehicle Navigation and Information Systems Conference (VNIS '89), 2003
The authors describe a research and demonstration effort aimed at improving vehicular location accuracy. This effort used a wheel sensor, a gas-rate gyro, a map-matching technique, and beacon information to reduce accumulated errors. The demonstration model showed good location accuracy results in field tests over three courses (one was in an urban ...

A Novel Map Matching Algorithm

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2014
Presently, most of the researches on Map Matching focus on high sampling rate and accurate GPS points. This paper discusses a challenging problem with low GPS sampling rate and some continuous points with large deviation. To solve the problem efficiently, a novel matching method named F&PT is proposed.

GIS-based Map-matching: Development and Demonstration of a Postprocessing Map-matching Algorithm for Transportation Research

2011
This paper presents a GIS-based map-matching algorithm that makes use of geometric, buffer, and network functions in a GIS – to illustrate the suitability of a GIS platform in developing a postprocessing mapmatching algorithm for transportation research applications such as route choice analysis.
