Map matching

Proceedings of the 21st ACM SIGSPATIAL International Conference on Advances in Geographic Information Systems, 2013
Hidden Markov Models (HMMs) based map matching - that matches a sequence of location samples to a road network - has received a lot of traction in recent years. In this paper we revisit the basic assumption underlying HMM-based map matching algorithms, namely, the hypothesis that the true mobility is Markovian.

Matching planar maps

Journal of Algorithms, 2003
Summary: The subject of this paper are algorithms for measuring the similarity of patterns of line segments in the plane, a standard problem in, e.g., computer vision, geographic information systems, etc. More precisely, we define feasible distance measures that reflect how close a given pattern \(H\) is to some part of a larger pattern \(G\).

Visual Interactive Map Matching

IEEE Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics, 2018
Map matching is the process of assigning observed geographic positions of vehicles and their trajectories to the actual road links in a road network. In this paper, we present Visual Interactive Map Matching, a visual analytics approach to fine-tune the data preprocessing and matching process.

Schema Matching and Mapping

Proceedings of the 14th International Conference on Extending Database Technology, 2011
Schema Matching and Mapping provides an overview of the ways in which the schema and ontology matching and mapping tools have addressed information systems requirements. Topics include effective methods for matching data, mapping transformation verification, mapping-driven schema evolution and merging.

Gaze map matching

Proceedings of the 20th International Conference on Advances in Geographic Information Systems, 2012
This paper introduces gaze map matching as the problem of algorithmically interpreting eye tracking data with respect to geographic vector features, such as a road network shown on a map. This differs from previous eye tracking studies which have not taken into account the underlying vector data of the cartographic map.

Kernelized map matching

Proceedings of the 18th SIGSPATIAL International Conference on Advances in Geographic Information Systems, 2010
Map matching is a fundamental operation in many applications such as traffic analysis and location-aware services, the killer apps for ubiquitous computing. In past, several map matching approaches have been proposed. Roughly, they can be categorized into four groups: geometric, topological, probabilistic, and other advanced techniques.

Space-map-matching-based candidate selection for GPS map matching

2016 IEEE International Conference on Service Operations and Logistics, and Informatics (SOLI), 2016
GPS map matching is the process to align observed GPS positions with road networks of a digital map. One of the key technique in a state-of-art GPS map matching algorithm is to select candidates for each observed GPS point. Traditional candidate selection algorithms focus on spatial proximity, which is not sufficient in real cases.

Trajectory Data Map-matching

2021
The task of trajectory data map-matching is important and often a prerequisite step towards the provision of smart urban services. Such task is challenging mainly because of the positioning error caused by GPS devices and the uncertainty between two GPS point samples.
