ABSTRACT Understanding how different biodiversity dimensions recover following disturbance is critical for interpreting forest successional trajectories. We examined this question in a protected remnant of Araucaria Mixed Forest (AMF) in subtropical southern Brazil, a frost‐prone montane system with multiple anthropogenic disturbance legacies.

Escalating Fire‐Driven Forest Loss in Protected Tropical Forests
More than 4 million hectares of protected tropical forest have been lost to stand‐replacing fire since 2001, with annual losses increasing through time in both the Americas and Africa. Protection most commonly reduced the proportion of stand‐replacing fire, but could not decouple temporal fire trends inside PAs from those outside.

Carbon Stocks in Sugarcane Biomass and Their Implications on Land Use Change CO2 Balance in Brazil
This paper develops a regionalized carbon stock factor for sugarcane biomass in Brazil, showing that sugarcane cultivation can lead to net carbon removal in most municipalities. The findings improve greenhouse gas inventories and support bioenergy policies by providing more accurate, spatially resolved estimates for land use change emissions.

ABSTRACT Aim We evaluated how native vegetation cover influences the diversity of arachnid assemblages across multiple spatial scales in major Brazilian ecosystems. Location Brazil (Amazon and Atlantic rainforests, Cerrado savanna and Caatinga dry forest). Taxon Arachnida (Opiliones, Pseudoscorpiones and Scorpiones). Methods We sampled arachnids at 120
