Effects of nitrogen fertilizer rate on dry matter yield, nutritive values and nitrate nitrogen of Guineagrass (Panicum maximum Jacq.) extremely late cultivar “Umaku” as a summer annual grass in a warm temperate zone

open access: yesGrassland Science, Volume 72, Issue 2, Page 151-160, April 2026.
Abstract Cultivation as a summer annual grass in temperate regions of new extremely late‐maturing guineagrass cultivar “Umaku” without heading with fertilizer application entails risks of toxic nitrate nitrogen (nitrate‐N) concentration in the grass.

Calibration and evaluation of a carbon net primary productivity module based on the SIMPLE model

open access: yesAgronomy Journal, Volume 118, Issue 2, March/April 2026.
Abstract This study presents the carbon net primary productivity (CNPP) module, an implementation of the simple generic crop model (SIMPLE model) that we have extended to predict aboveground and belowground biomass production and carbon assimilation. The goal for this module is to predict biomass inputs at and below the soil surface, during and at the ...

Influence of Fertilization on the Phytoremediation of Lead‐Contaminated Soils Using Tropical Grasses

open access: yesEnvironmental Quality Management, Volume 35, Issue 3, Spring 2026.
ABSTRACT Lead is an element intensively used by human activities, representing serious risks to food security due to soil contamination, making it essential to implement control strategies to mitigate its harmful effects. The objective of this study was to evaluate the influence of soil fertilization on the growth and lead accumulation of grasses used ...

Considerações sobre a morte de pastagens de Brachiaria brizantha cv. Marandu em alguns estados do Centro e Norte do Brasil: enfoque entomológico. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
A gramínea Brachiaria brizantha cv.

open access: yesBioscience Journal, 2011
The cultivation of pastures in Brazil is mostly done with the species Brachiaria spp. However, there is little research on nutrition with manganese for this forage. It was aimed to asses the effects of manganese in the development and nutrition of marandu grass.

Agronomic performance of maize and cover crops using composted sewage sludge to supply phosphorus

open access: yesAgronomy Journal, Volume 118, Issue 1, January/February 2026.
Abstract The application of composted sewage sludge (CSS) in crop production offers a sustainable solution for nutrient recycling and reducing reliance on mineral fertilizers. This study evaluated the residual effects of CSS on phosphorus (P) bioavailability and agronomic performance of maize and cover crops in P‐fixing soils of the Brazilian Savannah (

Decomposition of straw resulting from different strategies of recovery of degraded pastures using an integrated crop-livestock system

open access: yesSemina: Ciências Agrárias, 2018
Several strategies have been used to improve soil fertility using integrated crop-livestock (ICL) systems, and the harvest of the accompanying crop used for silage may have several benefits to the soil depending on the quantity and quality of the ...
