Step‐Associated Cu‐Ceria Interfaces Enhance Catalytic Activity and Selectivity

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
The catalytic activity and selectivity of supported Cu nanoparticles depends on their interfacial environments, with Cu nanoparticles at step‐associated environments converting CO2 to methanol much faster than those on terrace facets, indicating that step sites create more active metal–oxide interfaces.

Control of Helix Screw‐Sense Preference in Dynamic Foldamers of meso Symmetry Built From Chiral Monomeric Units

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Sequence‐diverse meso and “near‐meso” oligourea foldamers are reported and exhibit stimulus‐responsive helix screw‐sense control governed by terminal‐group desymmetrization and sequence‐encoded helix stability. ABSTRACT Meso oligoureas are dynamic hydrogen‐bonded foldamers capable of reversible helix polarity inversion but have so far been limited to ...

Broad‐Spectrum, Cell Envelope‐Active Marinocyclin Antibiotics From a Coral‐Derived Bacterium Are Effective Against Colistin‐Resistant Bacteria

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Marinocyclins, polycationic macrocyclic depsipeptides, were discovered by genome mining from the marine coral‐derived bacterium Aquimarina megaterium. The compounds have broad‐spectrum activity against gram‐positive and gram‐negative ESKAPE bacteria.

Sequential Design of Activatable Photosensitizers for Ablation of Glioma Cells in Brain Cancer Tissues

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Gal‐SeNBD‐oleamide is an activatable photosensitizer (PS) with efficient uptake and selective, β‐galactosidase‐triggered activation in cancer cells, enabling efficient photodynamic ablation of glioma cells directly in brain tissue slices from mouse preclinical models and human glioblastoma patients.
