TREX1, a predator for treating MSI‐H tumors?

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Immunotherapy benefits many patients; yet, some with MSI‐H tumors remain unresponsive despite their high immunogenicity. Xu et al. reveal that TREX1 enables immune evasion by degrading cytosolic DNA and suppressing cGAS–STING–IFN‐I signaling. TREX1 loss restores DNA sensing, increases CD8+ T and NK cell infiltration, and boosts antitumor immunity ...

Revisiting chameleon gravity - thin-shells and no-shells with appropriate boundary conditions

open access: yes, 2008
We derive analytic solutions of a chameleon scalar field $\phi$ that couples to a non-relativistic matter in the weak gravitational background of a spherically symmetric body, paying particular attention to a field mass $m_A$ inside of the body.

Recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming and confer resistance to targeted therapies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that the majority of the 18 analyzed recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming. The most potent mutations are activating, co‐operate with other ERBB receptors, and are sensitive to pan‐ERBB inhibitors. Activating ERBB4 mutations also promote therapy resistance in EGFR‐mutant lung cancer.

Glassy states in a shaken sandbox

open access: yes, 2001
Our model of shaken sand, presented in earlier work, has been extended to include a more realistic `glassy' state, i.e., when the sandbox is shaken at very low intensities of vibration.

Effect of Feeding Plum and Red Ginseng Marc on Vital Reaction in Broiler Stress [PDF]

open access: yesKorean Journal of Poultry Science, 2011
This study was conducted to test the efficacy of plum (Prunus mume) and red ginseng (Panax ginseng C.A Meyer) marc as stress inhibitors under heat stress and lipopolysaccharide (LPS) challenge in broilers by investigating their effects on blood biochemical parameters, immunoglobulin concentration and splenic cytokine mRNA expressions.
