Collaborative Growth: When Large Language Models Meet Sociolinguistics

open access: yesLanguage and Linguistics Compass, Volume 19, Issue 2, March/April 2025.
ABSTRACT Large Language Models (LLMs) have dramatically transformed the AI landscape. They can produce remarkable fluent text and exhibit a range of natural language understanding and generation capabilities. This article explores how LLMs might be used for sociolinguistic research and, conversely, how sociolinguistics can contribute to the development

Global second‐order estimates in anisotropic elliptic problems

open access: yesProceedings of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 130, Issue 3, March 2025.
Abstract This work deals with boundary value problems for second‐order nonlinear elliptic equations in divergence form, which emerge as Euler–Lagrange equations of integral functionals of the Calculus of Variations built upon possibly anisotropic norms of the gradient of trial functions.

Impact of information shortcuts on preferential voting: Gender and ballot position effects in Luxembourg and Switzerland

open access: yesSwiss Political Science Review, Volume 30, Issue 4, Page 446-471, December 2024.
Abstract Free party lists provide voters with greater freedom of choice than other electoral systems, allowing them to select candidates within and between parties. Given that free party lists are cognitively highly demanding, voters have incentives to use shortcuts to discriminate between candidates. This study uses multilevel linear regression models

A note on certain integrals along polynomial compound curves

open access: yesJournal of Inequalities and Applications, 2019
In this paper we consider a singular integral operator and a parametric Marcinkiewicz integral operator with rough kernel. These operators have singularity along sets of the form curves {x=P(φ(|y|))y′} $\{x=P(\varphi (|y|))y'\}$, where P is a real ...

Pediatric anesthesiology in Brazil, Chile, and Mexico

open access: yesPediatric Anesthesia, Volume 34, Issue 9, Page 858-865, September 2024.
Abstract Background Latin America comprises an extensive and diverse territory composed of 33 countries in the Caribbean, Central, and South America where Romance languages–languages derived from Latin are predominantly spoken. Economic disparities exist, with inequitable access to pediatric surgical care.

Inequalities for Peano maximal functions and Marcinkiewicz integrals

open access: yesDuke Mathematical Journal, 1983
This paper may be considered to be a technical supplement to previous papers of the authors [Duke Math. J. 49, 517-620 (1982), and Harm. Anal. Conf. in Honor of A. Zygmund, Chicago 1981, 508-525 (1983; Zbl 0509.42021)]. Estimates are obtained for Peano maximal functions \({\mathcal P}^*_{\alpha,q}(F)(x)\)- for instance, if \(00}h^{-\alpha -n/q}(\int_{|

MAPPING PROPERTIES OF THE MARCINKIEWICZ INTEGRALS ON HOMOGENEOUS GROUPS [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Korean Mathematical Society, 2002
Let \(\mathbb{H}\) be a homogeneous group with homogeneous dimension \(Q\) and homogeneous norm \(|.|\). The unit sphere \(S\) in \(\mathbb{H}\) is defined as \(S= \{x\in\mathbb{H}:|x|= 1\}\). Let \(\Omega\) be a measurable function on \(\mathbb{H}\) that satisfies \(\Omega(\delta_\Gamma x)= \Omega(x)\) for a.e.

Who Runs for Higher Office? Electoral Institutions and Level‐Hopping Attempts in Germany's State Legislatures

open access: yesLegislative Studies Quarterly, Volume 49, Issue 3, Page 481-549, August 2024.
Do electoral institutions matter for subnational legislators’ career choices in a multi‐level polity? The paper considers this question by analyzing candidacies of sitting German State MPs for the Federal parliament (“level‐hopping attempts”), leveraging cross‐ and within‐legislature variation in electoral rules (due to the widespread adoption of mixed‐

Marcinkiewicz integral and superdensity

open access: yesAnnali di Matematica Pura ed Applicata (1923 -)
Abstract In his beautiful book Singular Integrals and Differentiability Properties of Functions , E.M. Stein introduces Marcinkiewicz integral as an alternative to the differentiation theorem to illustrate (literally quoting from [1, Ch.I, Sect.2.3]) “the principle that a ...

Reduction procedure for obtaining solutions of the scalar additive Jump problem and Riemann boundary value problem in vectorial Clifford analysis

open access: yesMathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences, Volume 47, Issue 11, Page 8611-8625, 30 July 2024.
In this paper, we study existence of solutions to the scalar additive Jump problem and the Riemann boundary value problems in the context of vectorial Clifford analysis on domains with fractal boundaries. A reduction procedure is applied with great effectiveness to find the solution of the problems.
