Laser‐assisted synthesis of CuPd amorphous/crystalline heterojunction demonstrates >80% Faradaic efficiency for nitrate‐to‐ammonia electroreduction across wide potential windows. The integrated solar‐powered electrolyzer achieves 6% solar‐to‐ammonia energy efficiency at 0.4 sun, 6–20 mg h−1 CO2 capture rate, and stability exceeding 100 h.

Engineering a Virus‐Derived X Family DNA Polymerase FvPolX for de novo DNA Synthesis
In this study, a Faustovirus‐derived polymerase (FvPolX) is engineered based on structural and sequence analysis of PolX enzymes. The optimal mutants demonstrate substantially enhanced catalytic activity toward dNTPs and 3′‐ONH2‐dNTPs compared to the wild‐type enzyme.

SHARKlock holmes: Applications of DNA forensic in tackling illegal trade of sharks and rays in Southeast Asia Region [PDF]
Globally, the market demand for fins, uncontrolled bycatch, and illegal fishing are all contributing to the sharp decline in shark and ray populations. Within two decades (2002–2021), ASEAN countries provided 19.4% of 15.06 million tons (2.9 million tons)

The vertical distribution and biological transport of marine microplastics across the epipelagic and mesopelagic water column. [PDF]
Plastic waste has been documented in nearly all types of marine environments and has been found in species spanning all levels of marine food webs. Within these marine environments, deep pelagic waters encompass the largest ecosystems on Earth. We lack a

Marine Conservation: Moving Beyond Malthus [PDF]
A new study has shown that maximum overfishing of coral reefs occurs among countries at intermediate levels of socio-economic development; can managers and policy makers help countries dependent on these ecosystems avoid the resulting poverty traps?
