A Survey on Data-Driven Fault Diagnostic Techniques for Marine Diesel Engines

IFAC-PapersOnLine
Fault diagnosis in marine diesel engines is vital for maritime safety and operational efficiency. These engines are integral to marine vessels, and their reliable performance is crucial for safenavigation. Swift identification and resolution of faults are

Marine Diesel Engine Lubrication

Scientific Lubrication, 1958
The SATISFACTORY LUBRICATION OF Diesel engines presents some of the most difficult problems encountered by oil technologists. This is especially true of large marine engines, where, due to low speeds and high loads, it is difficult to establish fluid film lubrication.

Research on fault prediction of marine diesel engine based on attention-LSTM

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part M: Journal of Engineering for the Maritime Environment, 2022
The marine diesel engine is an important guarantee for the safe operation of the ship. It is of great significance to predict the running trend of the diesel engine and infer whether the diesel engine is in an abnormal working state in advance to ensure ...

Marine diesel engine exhaust noise1

International Shipbuilding Progress, 1968
Simplified scale models are shown to be useful for determining the low-frequency sound transfer properties of an exhaust system of a large low speed marine diesel engine. Experimental results of a full-scale system including silencers closely agree with model results.

MARINE DIESEL ENGINE GOVERNOR IDENTIFICATION

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2007
The paper deals with marine diesel engine governor identification in normal and faulty operating conditions, using simulation method within real ship’ s propulsion plant simulator Kongsberg ERS-L11 MAN B&W-5L90MC-VLCC Version MC90-IV. Most of marine diesel engine speed controllers developed are using the PID control algorithm.

Marine Diesel Engines

2012
Marine diesel engines are very similar to the self-ignition engines in heavy-duty vehicles, but they are generally larger, more complex, and operate with higher efficiency. About 75% of all marine diesel engines are four-stroke engines; however, 75% of the installed power is produced by two-stroke engines.

Marine Diesel Engines

1971
Many prospective owners of diesel engines are tempted into fixing arbitrary parameters in specifying their requirements, and often these are copied from specifications drawn up at some more or less remote time by consulting engineers. This is not the right thing to do.

Marine Diesel Engine Maintenance

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1962
<div class="htmlview paragraph">The basic reason for most marine diesel maintenance problems can be summed up briefly--lack of proper instrumentation. Preventive maintenance is the key to efficient and reliable operation of marine power plants, and this can be effected only by valuable safeguards such as torsion meters, lube pumps, proper ...
