The Abundance of Marine Plastic Debris in Indonesia’s Ocean
Abstract Plastic waste is a global problem expected to increase with population growth. An estimated 275 million metric tons per year of plastic waste are produced globally. Indonesia has the fourth largest population in the world and makes the most plastic waste. Indonesia’s government plans to reduce plastic waste by 70% by 2025.

Temporal dynamics of communities on plastic debris in a polluted marine habitat
This study investigated the succession of prokaryotic and eukaryotic communities on polystyrene panels deployed for 25 weeks in a harbour environment influenced by anthropogenic activities. These activities resulted in an excess of nutrients from sewage and agricultural discharges, as well as the release of hydrocarbons and other pollutants.

Characteristics of meso-sized plastic marine debris on 20 beaches in Korea
We surveyed the abundance and accumulation patterns of mesoplastic marine debris (5-25 mm) on 20 beaches in Korea. The mean abundance of it was 13.2 items/m(2), and the mean weight was 1.5 g/m(2). Hard plastic and Styrofoam were the dominant types.
