Target recognition for marine search and rescue radar

2010 Sixth International Conference on Natural Computation, 2010
The key point of marine search and rescue is to find out and recognize the distress objects. At present, the visual search method is usually adopted to detect the ships in distress, and this method can only be used at good sea condition and visibility. In this paper, a new target detection and recognition system is proposed.

Wave monitoring based on a Dopplerized marine radar

2017 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS), 2017
At the Helmholtz Zentrum Geesthacht (HZG), Germany an oceanic monitoring system, based on a Dopplerized microwave radar was developed. The focus of this paper is on the wave measurement methodology and applicability of this system. In addition, to the spectral wave properties such as peak wave period, peak wave direction and significant wave height ...

Marine radar today—a review

Radio and Electronic Engineer, 1977
The different units making up a marine radar installation are first described, with particular emphasis on the display, where the greatest variety of design has recently appeared. System aspects are then discussed, especially the clutter problem, as well as reliability and maintenance.

Fifteen Years of Marine Radar

Journal of Navigation, 1960
In this paper, by the Director of the Radio Advisory Service, a comprehensive survey i s made of all the main trends of development in commercial marine radar since it first went to sea in 1946. The opinions of a representative group of seamen on the value they get from radar is analysed, and finally some views of manufacturers and seamen on what the ...

A Novel Polarimetric Marine Radar

2016
Considering the poor anti-interference performance of the current marine radar, a novel marine radar based on polarization technology is proposed in this paper. Aiming at the structural characteristics of the floating targets on the sea, this paper analyses the polarization scattering characteristics of the marine radar targets, and based on the fact ...

True-motion Marine Radar

Journal of Navigation, 1957
A study of many collisions at sea in which the misuse of radar may have been a contributory cause leads to the conclusion that much difficulty might be overcome if a less ambiguous method of displaying radar information were provided. To this end an entirely new type of radar presentation has been embodied in the latest equipment produced by Decca ...

Marine Radars for Large Ships

Journal of Navigation, 1961
This paper is concerned with a limited part of the marine radar field, namely the equipments intended primarily for the larger ships. In these sets the greatest refinement and versatility is aimed at, to cover the wide variety of circumstances met with by the ocean fliers, the great tankers and the deep-sea tramps seeking port in any corner of the ...
